| USB Flash slow with many small files When I copy or delete a folder with lots of small files on my flash drive, it goes incredibly slow. Transferring one large file is relatively fast (8-10 MB/sec). I figure that the FAT is being updated many times and this may be the cause, but I wonder why it's so much slower on my 4GB flash drive which is 10 MB/sec than on my 1 GB MP3 player which is less than 3 MB/sec. Maybe it has bigger internal "blocks" that take longer to write? But even then, the speed is nearly 4x, so it just doesn't make sense. I enabled write caching on the drive, but it doesn't change anything. My best bet is to zip such folders and copy to the zip to the USB drive instead.
