2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

anyone watching?...I'm really excited about this years Summer games...lot's of good stories and heated competition...can Michael Phelps win 8 gold medals in swimming?...the new USA dream Team, the men's Track and Field races are sure to be classic's, volleyball, baseball, tennis etc

I like the Summer Olympics and tend to watch them more then the Winter Olympics...better sports during the Summer Games...although maybe the presence of more hot babes during the Summer Olympics has something to do with it as well (volleyball, softball, swimming etc )

the Opening Ceremonies were amazing (watching on my HDTV set made it moreso)...I hear it cost $300 million to produce...the color, costumes, pageantry and visual symbolism were all on display...the CGI looked so real I couldn't tell the difference at times between reality and computer generated images...Zhang Yimou (acclaimed Chinese movie director) produced the show and after watching it I want him to come to the states and direct some movies...very well done Beijing!

Let the Games begin!

That paper scroll that they were dancing on was a fantastic effect... and the choeography of the dance routines was brilliant.
Loved the mix of vibrant colour...

Re: 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

Lezak crushed it in the final, oh, 15 meters. Of course the beauty of it was the French had laid down some smack saying they were there to smash the Americans.

The US swim teams (mens and womens) are rocking and the US B-Ball team IS BACK! The womens fencing swept all three medals

Oh, and I forgot, about the US beach volleyball teams - which are cranking as well!

Great games so far

Re: 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

I'm looking forward to track cycling, but I fear I will miss all of it due to it not being broadcast (or it being broadcast when I don't have access to a TV, which is most of the time). The sprint finals are coming up next Tuesday, most disciplines are usually a hoot, including Madison and Keirin.

I'd also like to see the men's +105kg weightlifting (even though Hossein Rezazadeh is retired) but that's probably not broadcast either.

try streaming video (your new PC should be able to handle it with ease)...the channel that is broadcasting the Games here in the states (NBC) is pretty much showing some form of coverage 24/7 with all events also broadcast live on streaming video 24/7 on its web site

the 12 hour time difference is not as bad as I feared because we can still see the better events 'live' in prime time here (instead of on tape delay which takes away some of the excitement since the winners will be known beforehand)...12 is a nice number as it makes things a bit easier in terms of time zone...because of NBC's 24/7 coverage viewers can see all their favorite sports (cable stations CNBC, MSNBC and USA network are showing 'live' coverage during late night hours of even less popular events such as ping pong and weight lifting while the main channel--NBC---will be showing the marquee matchups such as swimming, basketball and gymnastics during prime time--8:00 PM- 11:00 PM)
