Good to see you there The_Bloodguard.

How'd the Lasik go? I've been bouncing the idea of getting it around for about 2 years now.

Sorry about the unemployment...I don't think I remember hearing about that.

No...you are right, haven't seen him in a while.

I just noticed Yoda (formerly Tomp) hasn't posted in almost 3 months. Is he around and "only moderating" or is he on sabbatical?

Anyone heard from him?

I've been lurking in this forum for some time and first let me say the qaulity of the forum members is top notch... When I read this post however it really p***** me off! We are quick to condem software piracy/warez and yet when a member blatanly says he is going to defraud the Canadian taxpayers out of $$ it is ok?? The way I see it is if you 'Choose' to be an american citizen and pay taxes in the US then you should also step up and be responsible for brining a baby into world in the country you 'Choose' to live in!! Yes, we have a public health care system but it also assumes that by paying for the birth and subsequent health care of said child that child will someday be paying taxes in Canada not the US...

Understood. Of course, I am sure that you realize that just because someone posts something does not imply that everyone is in agreement with that post. We typically keep the flaming down at ABXZone, so a controversial comment may not be discussed if there is a chance it will drag the thread off topic too much--as in this case.

Well for a new member, you aren't starting out very great by immediately bashing a long and good standing member (not to mention someone I call a friend).

In some respects I understand what you are saying, but you probably haven't been lurking long enough to know the full situation. Keri was laid off and has no true means of support at the moment. He is only doing what he MUST for proper care and support of his wife (who was found pregnant before the bad times came) and soon to come baby. So cut the guy some slack...he's only doing his best to care for his family.

Smile Good to see you too

I love this thread (rank it #1) cause I see you miss people and I find it wonderfull. That`s because I also feel that way for all those I had change ideas, talk, discuss about everything,helped/got helped, play UT and even argue.I also miss those who were there and posted interesting threads/opinions and I was reading them without they knewing that.
I can`t describe it exactly `cause my English or US if you like (When I started learning English I tried to learn also some US phrase manners.Well I like mixed EN-US language.)I`m proud to be a european and also happy to know that there`s also a friendly continent I like.
To the point again,I missed you so that I was shy to post in a technical matter thread (not to mention that I`m behind to these) and I considered better to post somewhere I could find it more friendly as I missed first the friends and secondly the hardware mods.
When I started the Goodnight thread I didn`t have in mind its future but the future of friends. Then I got back after so long and found these friends to be there.I know that if I didn`t have made this thread someone else would by the time,as all of you (I know) were in that way so I don`t think its my success but the board`s (people`s) success that lead to it.

OK.the final conclusion is you are OK people and run a marvellous board.Thank you for all.

PS.I can`t mention all I miss cause there too many but I saw many of them posting.
PS2.Some images I have on posts/signature are hosted to xbwfo`s space.
It`s you people.

I'm at a loss here... if keri's wife has valid Canadian health care benefits, how is she defrauding Canadian taxpayers by delivering her baby in Canada and using her valid coverage? "Valid" implys... well, valid, as in legal and paid-for. If keri'd said that his wife had figured out how to have Canadian healthcare pay for her medical coverage, despite the fact that she was not entitled to same, I'd understand your anger. As is is, I cannot help but think that you believe that anyone with current Canadian healthcare coverage has no right to return to Canada and receive medical treatment if they have been outside Canada for any reason. I'd like to see you try to sell your opinion to the THOUSANDS of Canadians who relocate to AZ every winter.

Given the information in the relevant posts, I consider your position to be unsupported by the facts. And, as someone entitled to Dual-Citizenship (US & Canada) I find it offensive that you assume that some kind of ripoff is in progress... or do you think Canadians who are living in the US have no rights in Canada?

I'd apologize for my attitude, but I don't think an apology is needed in this case...

Edit: A careful interpretation of your post also implies that anyone who ever partakes of any benefit in Canada (regardless of entitlement) is somehow forever in "debt-bondage" to Canada (or at least the Canadian Govt. & tax system)... I guess I'd better get back up north and start giving $$$ to my "Master"...

SKI: Just so you understand where I am coming from... When you move out of any Canadian province and establish a permanent residence outside of that province or the country you are no longer covered by it's health program. So one of 2 things are happening. 1. She has been misrepresenting that fact here permanent address is in the US and paying premiums in a province where she does not reside. 2. She came back and is fulfilling here 3 month 'waiting period' at her new 'permanent address' ( at least until the baby is born ) to get covered under the provincial health plan... I will leave it at that as those are the facts and I don't want to have this thread become a heated argument as was pointed out previously. If anyone feels the need to continue we'll move it to the Heated debate zone and let this thread continue it's original purpose. I apologize to those I have offended.

Even though I still don't agree with you, I appreciate you not wanting to take into a hot debate. It shows good character. Thanks, and welcome to the forum.

Since some want to make something out of nothing.....I have to turn on the light bulb. Louise is a Canadian, Born & raised. Lived the for over 40 years....Paid taxes there. We are not yet legally "married" even though when I speak of her she is my "wife" and I am her "husband"! She has never established permanent residency or worked/paid taxes on U.S. soil! She visits here on a "visitors" visa and returns home to Canada long before it expires!

I guess this is my fault for the way I worded the post that started this and for that I am sorry. If she were only going there JUST to have our child and was a legal U.S. citizen then yes, It would be wrong.

We had little to no choice in the matter since the fact remains she IS a Canadian citizen AND nobody in the states would even see here for Prenatel care due to that fact. I called private doctors and offered to pay cash and was turned down. That left our only choices to be her going home early and having the baby there (We plan to legally marry next year and make her a U.S citizen thus terminating her Canadian health care at that time) OR staying here past her Visa time, Being an illegal alien at risk of deportation and/or a jail cell while in the final months of pregnacy and risking problems with the Department of Children & Families possibly taking our child away because she was not going to have had ANY Prenatel care!

You decide whats right here. I was willing to pay & TRIED to get a doctor to see her!

Unhappy

Kerri, I am terribly sorry for questioning the circumstances surrounding this ... That is what happens when one makes assumptions with out all the facts. It was the way it was phrased initially and the assumptions that I made from that statement that got me going and I am sorry... Please except my apology and I wish you a healthy baby and good luck with the pending marriage.
