Jericho saved?

Multiple sources are reporting that CBS is this close to sealing a deal to bring Jericho back for at least eight episodes, possibly at mid-season.

It's now just a matter of signing the actors to new deals and, according to one insider, finding a new soundstage to house the show's sets.

if this is true then it shows that all those viewers who wrote CBS with protest letters really saved this show...

Update: looks like the rumors are true...

"I really think that what has been learned here is that networks are going to have to look at numbers and who is watching their show and who is downloading their show in a different way from here on out. I think they have to understand that the Nielsens are not telling the story anymore and that the 18-49 demographic they're all so keen on is online and that's how increasingly they are getting their news and entertainment."

That is so correct!!!

I downloaded the first four or five episodes when the show started. And I watched the streaming video from the Jericho website for at least half the rest of the episodes.

It’s Official!! Seven Episodes of JERICHO For Midseason!!

From CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler:

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler
President, CBS Entertainment

P.S. Please stop sending us nuts

Jericho supporters launched the nuts campaign, which was inspired by a line at the end of the season finale, uttered by Skeet Ulrich's Jake Green in response to the neighbouring town's request to surrender.

"Nuts," he said.

so the nuts represent a line from the show and CBS's rationale to cancel the show...so far Jericho fans have send over 28,000 lbs of nuts to CBS to protest the show's cancellation

any kind of nuts...cashews, peanuts, walnuts...

but no need to send in any more nuts now...Jericho lives!!!...for now...save those nuts for next year when CBS decides to cancel Jericho again due to low ratings...or save the nuts for another TV show that gets cancelled too soon

Well, if they pay attention to all of the people who watch Jericho via the Internet, or record it to their Tivo, there is no way in hell they can say not enough people watch. I can only watch it on Innertube since I am never home when it airs. It's a great show and I am glad its back!

"The problem is"

"They" keep cancelling shows season after season. If all they are going to do is run a show for one season and cancel it, then might as well resurrect a good show for one season, cancel it, and resurrect it again. Same thing. And cheaper: The sets are already made.

Wish they would do it for other good shows.
