| Bill Gates last day at Microsoft Macintosh computer fanatics won't have Bill Gates to kick around anymore...the Microsoft co-founder whose boyish face and nerdy manner epitomizes the US software colossus spends his last day at the office on Friday... Gates is retiring from Microsoft on Friday, although he will remain the company's non-executive chairman AFP: Bill Gates to sign off at Microsoft bye Bill!!...gonna miss ya...without you my E8400 would never be running as well as it is...and Mozilla would never be where it is either without IE...and Linux would still only be used by hard core nerds in their parents basement computer for better or worse you've changed the landscape of technology forever...that along with your philanthropic work cements your place in history

| You know, I'm guessing he's starting to see the beginning of the end. I think he's personally not happy with what's going on, not happy about vista, and is bailing out before M$ enters what I think are going to be some rather rough times ahead. I dunno, maybe windows 7 will be good enough for M$ to improve their reputaiton. I just see another version of vista, possibly with enough improvements to make it tolerable. It will be like windows 2000, and XP. History repeating itself again. |

| Re: Bill Gates last day at Microsoft I agree with Deer Slayer. Bill has plenty of money and fame, so why stay on a ship that will only float and make little headway for the next 10 years before it starts to sink? He's a smart guy (who was also "there" at the right time and made the right connections) and knows when it is time to retire. |
