For dog lovers: this video...

The video is here.

By the way...if you've ever wondered what rural Texans are really like the cowboy that is the dog's partner is all you need to know.
He reminds me of one of my dear friends who is also a farrier and one of the wisest men I know.

I'm not ashamed to admit I was in tears by the end of it. I then took my Belle down to the greenbelt for a long walk and some swimming.

Here...I've got this movie for you to see. It's called "Old Yeller", a real guy movie.

Re: For dog lovers: this video...

I remember an Australian TV-series for kids about a dog that ran ages ago when I was 9 or 10 or so. I really liked and watched religiously. In the last episode they had to put the dog down and I cried like baby for hours, such a deeply sad ending I still remember it. I'd probably like to have a mutt of my own if I wasn't allergic. A beagle or something. Babe magnet.

Re: For dog lovers: this video...

That owner was truly blessed to have such a relationship with his dog. I wonder how many get the chance for so close of a bond - it goes to another level I'm not sure many get to see.
I was fortunate to have one with our last dog (since departed)...used to take him to school to play with the kids. 12 years later I still miss him.

Re: For dog lovers: this video...

Did you see him with the puppies? I think he's got some kind of God-given gift with dogs and it took Skidboot to show it to him.

I can't even begin to put the love I have for my girls into words.

Sounds like you did indeed have an "Old Yeller" moment.

I simply cannot watch anything that has animal tragedy in it. Especially dogs. We watched "Eight Below" one evening and I was almost physically distressed when those dogs had to be abandoned.
(I'm not spoiling anything because it happens fairly early in the film and you can pretty much see it coming anyway...)
Still, it's a good movie and worth watching but - man - that was hard.

We have two cats that we literally rescued off the street. One when he was so young and tiny that we had to hand feed him with an eye dropper. We also had to take a Q-Tip and rub his tiny tinkler to get him to pee. That's something the mama cat does when the kittens are so young and haven't yet learned how to urinate. Oliver is now seven years old and has traveled with us many times to Colorado and New Mexico. He was too young for us to leave at home when our Fall hiking vacation came up so we took him with us. Never had a problem with him in the truck. He'd just curl up and snooze or occasionally sit up and watch the road go by.
We rescued Dodger on the way home from a party one night three years ago. We'd stopped for gas when Mrs. TQ spotted him over by the curb. She sweet talked him for fifteen minutes and he finally allowed her to approach him and pick him up. We took him to the vet to get checked out the following Monday and he's been with us since. He and Oliver are the best of pals.

Oliver and Dodger...the two little dickens.

Gerogie, is 6 years old this year, and we've been with her 24 hours a day since we got her at 6 weeks, and I wouldn't have it any other way, if we go on vacation it has to be a place where we can take her, she loves the boat and fishing, if we are on the back deck working so is she, people who has never had a relationship with a pet think where crazy, but I just thank my Lucky stars for Georgie....
