| Ok lets see here.... 1) The major labels pay radio stations to play their songs. This is sketchy in itself--shouldn't the music on the radio just be the best stuff? But the worst part is it means other labels are locked out of radio. If musicians don't sign an exploitative contract with one of the majors, they don't get on the radio. --- Ok, this is some one whining about how free market capitalisim is screwing them. I would think they have every right to do something about it. If i ran a company and wanted to pay someone to play a song for me, and they took the money, so be it. And about the contract thing that is just bull****.. maybe in some or most radio stations but not all, and with the internet the way it is today anyone can hear your music. A close friend of mines band is very popular ina couple states and they don't have a contract yet, its possible... doesn't mean it could be easier, but *** this is a free market. 2) This fall the major labels starting suing fans. So far, they've sued over 300 people, mostly working families with young children. And they say the suits will continue indefinitely. Whatever you think about filesharing, it's just not okay for giant corporations to sue people with kids, living paycheck to paycheck, who can't afford a defense. The lawsuits are literally pushing families into bankruptcy. --- Now here is where most people are torn in my opinion... but quite frankly i wouldn't let my kids download music period ( nevermind all the crap that comes with file sharing apps...spyware, virus, adware) If you can't control your kids on the internet you have more serious problems coming then just a lawsuit... Now i don't agree with them suing families that really can't afford a 50k lawsuit... but what he says about families living paycheck to paycheck is a choice of the family as well.... to me these are choices people make in life if you steal you can get in trouble there are consequences to be paid in life. In the end it really comes down to this guy being upset that companies are trying to protect their assets. Assets he apparently doesn't agree with either.
