Interesting. I get the impression that the LHC will have unprecedented capability for a particle accelerator, and I suspect that will lead eventually to a lot of surprising discoveries that no one can accurately predict at this point.

There's a law suit filed against some companies involved. Two "scientist" believe that it may create a black hole that will suck up earth and the solar system.

I hope they find it before Higgs himself kicks the bucket. That would be nice.

The "proton particle beam energy = aircraft carrier at 11kts" is a great analogy. Really makes you think, seeing as how a proton fits neatly inside a pocket or, well, an atom.

Not to get too non-theoretical or theological but I've often thought that God exists not in a metaphysical realm but in the infinite space between sub-atomic particles. Or that's where He (or insert preferred pronoun here) does most of His (and here) day labor, anyway.
I'm glad to see someone with a college degree has similar thoughts.

Ditto on hoping Higgs gets to see it in his lifetime.

Based on the fact that bosons allow photons to pass them by unaffected would make Lite Beer an aberration in nature.
