Red face I don't really know if it's swollen, but I'm sure it's not happy.

I've never been to a doctor to get it checked out, but I'm sure it's starting to show some signs of abuse. It's not like my liver actually causes me pain, but I certainly don't tolerate alcohol as well as I used to. I don't know if it's because of liver function, or I'm just getting old. I dunno, I certainly don't want to find out. So I've pretty much stopped drinking, except for about once a month. I was exagerating when I said my liver is swollen, I didn't drink enough to cause it to be a dire situation, but it's got to last a few more decades. My brother puts his liver through worse, and his works OK still. It took my grandpa a good 20 years to kill his liver, and he drank from the time he got up, till he went to bed. I'm sure the 4 years I put it through of 2-3 nights a week didn't hurt it that bad. I don't actually know what kind of shape my liver is in, one of these days I'll get it checked out. If it was to the point where a doctor told me to stop or die, I would never drink again. It was just my decision to stop, mainly because I didn't want to end up like my grandpa. My body started to react badly to alcohol, and I wasn't really enjoying it any more. Today, I recovered like I used to, by 8:30 am I felt OK! I'm back to normal as far as the reaction goes, so I don't think I did any permanent damage.

It's not that every time I drink I have to get drunk, there are times I've just nursed a couple beers. It's just pointless to drink and not get drunk. I would much rather drink 10 beers in one night than 1 beer per night for 10 days. I dunno, I don't feel the slightest desire to drink again any time soon! I've had my fill for this month.

BTW: Will alcohol actually cause liver pain??? I had no idea it could actually make your liver hurt! If it was damaged that badly, would it be obvious, or could I be sitting here not knowing. I'm not turning yellow, my **** is a normal color, and I don't stay drunk for an excessive ammount of time. A friend of mine screwed his liver so bad, he can drink one beer, and still blow something on a breathalizer 4 hours later!!! He can't even process the alcohol any more, he'll probably drink himself to death like my grandpa.

......yes, it does can cause extreme physical pain. Most people don't even know there liver is going bad unless they visit the doc on a regular basis. The description you are giving only happens in the end stages of liver disease, by then its too late but you can kill your liver way before it shows physical signs. Just for your own good, get it checked out.........

Muscle fatigue and pain are other typical symptoms of liver disease.

I've been on cholesterol medication for 17 years, and have liver function checked annually. If you have any upper-right quadrant tenderness, bloating, muscle problems, or other stuff, get it checked. Takes only a quick bit of blood to test.

Not good, I would wake up after a night of drinking, and and I couldn't move for half the day!!! I would be sore, especially my right shoulder, and neck! I'd be extremely weak, normally I can deal with a couple hundred pounds! I could take an automatic transmission and put it in the back of my truck full of fluid, with the torque converter, and not even be winded! Then I got to the point where something like that would put me down for the night! So I stopped drinking, I figured on the days I didn't drink I was OK. I can do that kind of stuff again, I'm back to normal. The other day I helped my buddy get the dead water heater out of his basement. It still had some water in it, so it weighed robably 300 pounds or so. I took the bottom, and carried it up the stairs. I wasn't even sore when I was done, so I don't think I did anything permanent. I just had to stop or things were going to get serious! So I think my liver is OK, I just can't drink like I used to. I'll get my liver checked out when I go to the doctor next, whenever that may be.

Just saw your post Deer Slayer... man that is real bad news
I hope you get by OK mate.
