Re: female problems

Perhaps it's not too late to salvage the thread (exclaimed Al, optimistically and perhaps naively ).

I thought I'd expand a bit on my previous comment about running. As a young military person you (the original poster) are probably in good shape to begin with. Given that, and if you do not now do regular distance running, I would say it might take you perhaps two months to gradually build up to a reasonable basic level of proficiency, at which your body could handle a five or six mile moderately paced run comfortably.

You could then find opportunities to meet single female runners at local races, or by participating in running groups or clubs, or even by just encountering them during runs in your neighborhood. Running with members of the opposite gender, whether as a couple or in groups, is routinely and comfortably done these days, at least in my part of the country. And as I implied earlier, running has a remarkable way of simply blowing away anxieties such as shyness, at least while you are doing it (and assuming your body is adequately conditioned for it and is not being overstressed).

Hope that helps,
-- Al

unfortunately I can't relate...I don't use internet forums for such matters...I actually have flesh and blood friends whom I hang out with and socialize with...if you need a web forum to make friends then you have a lot bigger issues then I can help you with and I'm being serious when I tell you that you really should see a psychologist...lonliless, depression, low self esteem etc are serious medical conditions that should be treated and not trivialized

and this does relate to the original topic of not being able to meet females because his shyness or general lack of social skills is preventing him from meeting females...probably causing him to gravitate to these type of web forums to get the social fix he doesn't get from his real life...telling him to join a club, start running, join a dating site etc are all well and good for the average non-shy person but telling him to do that is akin to telling a person who is afraid of flying to get his pilots license...shy people in general are not going to run out to dance in a club, go to a bar to meet girls etc because of the very nature of them being shy...if it was that easy for them then they would not be shy to begin with

I'm the same guy offline as online and I don't pretend to be something I'm not...nothing is wrong with joining and posting in a forum but when you're online posting 24/7 there is definitely a bigger issue that needs to be addressed...especially with the significantly older demos of this site to have people posting as much as they do leads me to believe that they have some serious issues...when I'm in my twilight years I certainly hope to be enjoying my life, traveling the world, hanging out with my wife and kids, wasting $$ etc and not sitting in front of a computer all day and night creating virtual best buddies...if you havn't made real flesh and blood friends after living 50+ years then you need help way beyond what any internet forum can give you...get to the root causes of 'why' and 'how'...this may sound like I'm criticizing people but I'm really trying to help...and don't hate me because I'm a sexy beast

P.S.--the best way to meet females is through friends brother...also go OUTSIDE and give yourself a chance to meet someone...staying couped up in front of a computer screen will not help...the circle of my post is now complete

I don't think that is it because none of the GFs I have had has seen it. I prefer to wait until I get married.

Re: female problems

I don't believe telling members they need a psychologist or shock treatment is really such a positive way to communicate. Perhaps they aren't the ones in need? I really wonder why you want to be a member here with all us old geezers...

Sorry for taking your thread off topic Ford Freak...

Poly -- I feel that I must comment here. While there is some degree of truth in most of what you've said, and parts of your last post perhaps come across (slightly) as "really trying to help," I'm surprised big-time that a person of your obvious calibre and intelligence would post as you did initially in post 10 (which predictably accomplished nothing other than to be inflammatory) and in post 19 (which I think was the most classless post I've seen here in some time).

Certainly the person you were attacking has been known to be "over-aggressive" in his posts, some of the time (certainly not all of the time). But even in those cases, he has generally been receptive to a reasoned explanation of the facts that he may not have been aware of (if it was offered, as opposed to being reciprocated with over-aggressiveness). And in this thread, he was honest enough and brave enough to admit to significant difficulties he has had in the past, in the spirit of commiserating with the original poster.

I suggest that you re-read and re-consider your posts nos. 10 and 19. I think that anyone reading them objectively would be struck by their incongruity with the aims you claim to have had in your post quoted above.

Regards,
-- Al

Re: female problems

In my opinion, polonyc2's remarks may have been out of place. BUT THEY WERE NOT OFF THE MARK.

Sometimes, when faced with someone of ATINUT's attitude, hearing all the overly-aggresive, often derogatory comments, even a person of high 'caliber and intelligence' will strike back. Many call this putting someone in their place.

Personally, I feel ATINUT is the single largest source of negativity site-wide. He's the only member I'd as soon skip reading anything he's written, because it's largely laced with hostility.

I guess polonyc2 and I are in the minority.

Re: female problems

...and it seems like only yesterday I was trashing the "old geezers" myself. Now I am one. I now prefer forums for some limited socialization, as it prevents me from slugging-out some of the vicious and vile persons that exist. These people have always existed - it's just that now they are very well protected!

Re: female problems

I guess I'm an old geezer too...but my wife and I travel a little in the RV, so I'm exempt from shock treatment, right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in Karma. Sooner or later...it'll catch up to you.
