Gigabyte Warrantry

Hi All,


I have the Gigabyte motherboard. I contacted Gigabyte to find out how
long the warranty period was on this board they said it was 3 years
from the data of manufacture, I can't work this out because I brought
this board on the 26th November 2006 and therefore it should end on
the 26th November 2009 not based on the manufacture date when it was
made. Is this correct? Can they do this?

Well my guess would be 3 years from the date of purchase if you have the receipt as proof. If not 3 years from the date of manufacture.

Warranty periods CAN be and sometimes are defined from date of manufacture, if the manufacturer chooses to do it that way. Or, as Wonderwrench indicates, they can be defined from date of purchase, with date of manufacture used as an alternative if dated proof of purchase is not available. I suggest looking through the Gigabyte website to find their particular warranty terms.

If their written terms do specify that the period is measured from date of manufacture, then you should look carefully at the board to see if a date is indicated, or else contact them and ask them to tell you when it was manufactured, indicating its serial number to them.
