| To be honest, I didnt know he was alive. The American press ignores the great stars of the past who as you say, are Icons. Nobody shows interest in them. In Paris, where I live, or really in all of Europe, there is a much greater respect for things past. If Glenn Ford or Elizabeth Taylor or Mickey Rooney made a public appearance here, they would be mobbed. I adore Glenn Ford (although I never can spell his name). Classic movies of the 1930s and 1940s and 1950s are the best movies ever made. Even though I was not even born until the 1970s these movies are eternal for me and I would rather watch Wuthering Heights or Casablanca than anything released in the past 40 years. I recently saw the Oscars and there sitting and totally ignored was Mickey Rooney. Mickey Rooney who as a child star ruled hollywood and created an industry from which the stars of today benefit. He did not present, he was not spoken to, no one said anything These great stars of the screen are from an era when films MATTERED. Movie stars were almost gods and the movies they made will live forever. How sad that Glenn Ford passed so quiety. I will mourn him.
