Brandon, do you know what the difference between the Poineer DEH-3700MP and the 4700MP you posted the link to is? All I can see is ~20.00 dollars.
Flip down face (on 4700) dont know how much that matters to you and the volume control is fixed on the 3700, where it is pop-up on the 4700

specs are the same though

I'm not even sure what that means. I know they both have removable faces which could be a plus considering my car got broke into not too long ago so they could steal 2 dead ink pens and less than a buck in change.

Again Fixed vs. pop-up? Like you can set it and lock it on the 4700 or something like that?

Thanks for sticking w/ me on this stuff. Like I said, audio really isn't my thing.

BTW, I found the Alpine SPS-170A's on e-Bay for 120.65 delivered for two pair so I think I'm gonna get those and replace the fronts while I'm at it. Sound like a plan to you?

i was thinking about that today, it depends on how much you want to put into your car and how long you are planning to keep it. but that sounds like a great deal to me. when you sell your car you could always remove them i guess.

the 4700's face flips down so you have access to the cd slot, the 3700 doesn't need to flip down to access the slot as there is a hole in the face.

you can't lock the volume on the 4700, but it pops out so you can adjust it easier, then you can push it back in so it is harder to readjust in the event you bump it. most of the time i just leave mine in the out position (i have a deck from 3 years ago in the 7000 series of their decks)

Unfortunately I plan on keeping the car a while. I should have scrapped it or put a junk yard engine in it when it blew up but I didn't. I had the best engine builder in town rebuild it. I've got way to much money in it to recoupe anything if I sell it so I'm gonna run it untill it dies and then push it for a while.

Ok, I like the idea of a slot to put the CD in better than having to flip the face down to change it better anyway. Just sounds easier and safer driving too.

Have you dealt w/ ikesound.com before? I may just spend the extra 12 bucks and get the speakers from them. The eBay ones are in Cali and that usually takes 7 to 9 days ground while FL is 3 or 4.

i haven't bought speakers from ike, but i did buy a bunch of dynamat and the shipping was pretty quick, it was ups ground.

as long as the face is removable and they both have mp3 capability, i would just get the 3700 then, the flip down face isn't that bad to deal with but it is a few extra steps to change out the cd.

i should also note that in 6 years of owning pioneer decks, i have yet to have one skip on me (i have owned 2, each for 3 years)

Welp, I'll probably order up tomorrow or Friday I think. Not sure where on the receiver yet (probably Crutchfield) and get the speakers from Ikesound.com, especially if I can dig up a coupon code somewhere!

Thanks again and if I think of anything else, I'll be asking you Bud.

Probably not. I was looking around at the prices and with shipping and the fact that I absolutely have to have an adaptor kit for the head unit the price works out to be almost as much or more and seems that I may need an antenna adaptor too. Crutchfield is 150 shipped for everything. I did find one for 127 shipped but the kits run 20 to 25 bucks so that makes 147 to 152 after I get an installation kit. My car is older so it has the big GM/Chrysler size (Din and half?) size hole in the dash.

for the adapter i would just try to get one locally, the most you would have to pay is around 20.00 i think, that way you can take the adapter back if you don't like it. the wiring adapter you can probably get online along with an antennae adapter if you need it. GM changed in the early 90's to a smaller plug, but the older cars didn't need them.

and if you think your opening is big, mine is full double din but thats ok, this looks ok to me
