| Re: Googling your last name If you use different PC, or different OS, the result may be different. I found out this difference in search from Google when I was searching for some topic, and use WinXP of at least 2 different languages, Vista, Ubuntu 7, Fedora 7.

| Re: Googling your last name Quote:
That may be because your Google preferences are set differently in the different OS's. Click the "preferences" link to the right of the box where you enter the search terms, and see if you are specifying returns that are in English only, or that are in any language. I would think this preference is stored either in a cookie, or remotely based on a cookie, which would make it specific to each computer and each OS. Paradoxically, though, my name returns 8700 hits specifying "any language," and 12900 specifying "English only." Their algorithm may be good, but it's not perfect! Changing one letter of my name makes its spelling more common, and changes these numbers to 674K and 14.9M. -- Al Edit: I voted <10K, since that is what I get specifying "any language," and since the "English only" result is fairly close to that threshold. | Re: Googling your last name (One might note that my score of 9.52M might have been inflated by other uses of "Dryhumper" in everyday vernacular.)
