Ahhh... come on KT! Everyone knows that 4th of July is synonamous with Independence Day

Either way, this is my first 4th of July away from home! It's kind of sad to not be BBQ'ing right now.

Sorry...needed to rant. This thread is the ONLY place I've actually seen somebody using the term Independance day.... "4rth of July" is just the date.
Actually, there is a very important reason for referring to this holiday as the Fourth of July. About 20 years ago, one of my co-workers, an engineer who recently moved to the USA, came up to me and asked, "what day does everyone celebrate the Fourth of July?" (True story.)

BTW, we went up to visit my cousins (a tradition) and enjoyed the holiday very much. It is one of my favorites. I hope everyone had a great Independence Day.

To me that sounds like more evidence why it should be referred to as "Independance Day" instead of "4rth of July".

Although a true story, it was supposed to be humorous. Perhaps I should have added an emoticon.
