Re: Have You Finished Your Christmas Shopping?

I have done almost no shopping this Christmas and I'll explain why:

Well my wife and I our trying something a little different this year.......

We're not buying a bunch of gifts that we pretty much know what we are getting anyway and stuffing them under the tree. We decided sometime ago that we were going to save all year so nothing would be on a credit card (thank Dave Ramsey for this insight!). All the money we saved we will be taking with us (not figuratively) to a nice hotel in New Hampshire on Christmas day. We will be going to a nice resteraunt that night then getting up the next day and hitting a bunch of stores and malls. New Hamspshire has no sales tax and there are a ton of deals to be had the day after Christmas.

My wife, daughter, and I can walk around and pretty much buy what we want and it's all paid for.... guilt free shopping !! We'll go see a movie(s) when we want (probably the new National Treasure movie), eat what and when we want, then go back to the hotel and relax for another night before returning home to Maine.

We want Christmas morning to focus on what we feel is important... the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. What comes later will be solid family time. I am feeling blessed that God has giving me such a wonderful and fullfilling family to take care of (as well as being taken care of ).
