I had a similar experience with Media Markt, here in Germany. I bought a Casetek case and the entire front panel was hinged and lockable. Cool. You can just pop it open and change things about and clean the fan filters. Yeah, it came with cute little fan filters.

So I get it home and yeah the box had been opened but I figure no big deal. Until I see that the front panel is indeed locked and the box with all the parts is INSIDE it. When the front panel is locked - SO IS THE SIDE PANEL.

I'm thinking oh ******. It's such a pain to return something here and I knew they didn't have anymore of this case. So relying on a trick I learned a long time ago, I picked the lock to get the case open. And guess what? The keys aren't inside! Someone had opened all the stuff but hadn't put the keys back. Great.

I just said screw it and left the thing locked open. It's a nice case.

This case had keys and locks too... but those keys were missing along with the screws, stand offs and power supply cord...

Wow, what an ordeal. My blood pressure was high just reading this. I hate Best Buy, and Circuit City and even CompUSA. They are notorious for such practices, and like to make you look like the moron and their attitutude sucks. Thats why I buy online nowadays. There is no feeling worse than buying something whether it be a fan or a motherboard and knowing it was not a virgin! When I pay for an item I want it unopened and NEW, is that too much to ask! You handled the situation very well though.

Thank you for thr very kind words of support....

If I had not been in a rush for a "cash and carry " situation, I would have gone with new egg...

but i needed to solve my problem sooner than latter....

I have learned a huge lesson out of this, go with new egg.
I have bought from them many times and never had the problem I faced today...

major retailers suck in my book...

nuff said...

thank you all for the support you have awarded me,..

allways yours...

They have T-shirts!? "You nerd!" Nathan yells as he adjusts his pocket protector, pushes up his ultra-thick glasses taped together at the bridge and snorts in a nerdy laugh.

.........ummmm......yeah.......nevermind....

Glad things worked out!

I ordered a Antec case online from BestBuy when they were on sale a few months ago. It showed as being in stock and I elected to go pick it up. I drove to the store they told me to go to (about 15 mi away) and you guessed it, they didn't have it. I then went to the BestBuy right around the corner from my house and there was my case sitting on a shelf! I went home and cancelled my order and never went back. I ended up buying a Kingwin from Newegg.
