how to extract contents from a *.exe setup file?

hi,

well its all in subject...i got a setup file (.exe) and would like to extract the contents to my hdd so i can maualy chose wht i need to install...

If the exe file is a zip file self-extractor, then you can just use something like WinZip to find and unzip the single file you need. However, if the exe file is a regular installer, then you can't extract a single file. You have to run the installer.

i dont think its a zip file self-extractor coz it wont open under winrar...anyhow thnx a lot 4 da fast reply

actually i was trying to get some shells from visual styles...it is a "neowin transformation pack" which changes all the visual style of winxp,i just wanted a few parts of it and thats why i thought of extracting contect of this single setup file...

ok i got it figured out, actualy we can extract single self-extracting .exe files with runing the .exe with /x command...and it will extract the contents to da folder...

all cool now!
