I use about 8 strings of outside lights, so about 225 bulbs.

Zero. Not counting my fiber-optic Christmas Tree.

A better question for us here is how many LED status lights do you have in your house?

How much did you expect this site to help your traffic stats?

Apparently not enough to satisfy him, because in the last few days he's posted the exact same question to about 10 different forums. At least as many, also, for the other two posts he has made here.

Good catch, Rick! Hopefully the mods will take notice.

What was or is he expecting to happen?

People have been posting just to increase traffic stats to sites. They do this by putting a hot link image or a link in their signature, hoping people click on it, thereby increasing traffic and likely ad revenue.

The management here, is trying to combat this has disabled links and images in posts until certain numbers of posts have been reached. At the very least they deny satisfaction.

You can usually spot them when a new member has only a few posts and all in a small period of time. Especially if the subject of one or more of them is off topic. You can then verify by googling their name. When you get links to profiles on a dozen or more boards and at each one they have 3 posts, you have a winner.

It is especially obvious when a new member makes a totally irrelevant post in a long thread. The logic being that a long post is clicked on a lot.

Re: how many lights do you use for christmas?

I'll add to Rick's comments that this same poster has now posted this same question on approximately 50 different forums, based on a Google search using his question in quotes plus his screen name in quotes. In some of those posts (presumably where the setup of the forum makes it possible) there are spam links in the signature. Here is an example:

(I do not want to have the full link appear here for the robots to follow, so prefix the following with http: followed by 2 slashes)
symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14933

I suspect that one of the things posters like this may be trying to do (and there have been a lot of them lately), in addition to what Rick has mentioned, is to elevate the sites they are linking to in search engine rankings, which take into account the number of other sites linking to a given site in determining its ranking in search results.

Regards,
-- Al

What's your thoughts on post number 239 in this thread?

Important info for prospective P4T-E buyers...

If he were legitimate, he would have started a new thread with this question, instead of adding it to a long thread that had its most recent previous post in 2005. Also, he has already posted the same question to a couple of other forums that deal with completely different subject matter. Not sure what his exact intent is -- perhaps to draw spam to the email address he listed, for some reason.

Re: how many lights do you use for christmas?

Nice catch, buds. As no links are visible and it's unlikely he's returning, I think I'll leave the posts to be. This thread could possibly turn into something nice.
