| The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march. ![]() Join Date: Feb 2001

| Last night, my dog discovered (probably created) a new hole to get out of the fenced backyard. It was dark and I could not see her so I called her name. Amazingly, she came to the fence's entrance. I opened the gate and let her in and she looked at me very nervously, she knew what she did was very wrong from the way I have reacted in the past (she's part Boston Terrier-they have very good memory recall). I patted her on the head and opened the door to the house to let her in. Instead of going into the living room, she sat in the laundry room acting as if she was in trouble and would stay there for punishment. However, I never raised my voice and I never got angry; I was more relieved that she obeyed me in coming to me when called. Silly dog stayed on what I guess she made into a "naughty dog bed" for over an hour. When she did finally come out she would stare at me wondering what's going on. Sometimes, it is soooo much more fun not to get mad just for the reaction. |

| I know what ya mean pointy...from time to time one of my mini-schnauzers will do something (unknown to me ) that he(or she) KNOWS is bad and wil act guilty in a very distinct way...then it's up to me to figure out what it was...:confuse2: Intelligence (even in dogs) is a mixed blessing...ignorant bliss with no understanding of "bad" behavior ain't so bad! (if you can get away with it)

| That's cool PR....I'm just picturing the dog's face as she was looking at your from the wrong side of the gate. LOL Reminds me of what I did to my dog last week (kind of opposite). Usually I open the back door to let him run in the fenced back yard and will usually stand by the door to watch or wade around the yard a bit. One day I opened the back door and let him out and figured I'd let him hang out there for a while (extended play break) while I took care of some business in the front yard (putting ant bait on ant mounds). I went out front and looked at my dog from the other side of the fence and got the funniest quizical look.....then his face darted toward the back door to make sure I wasn't there. I turned to walk back to the front door and he had run all the way across the yard, into the house to the front door waiting before I took the 7 steps back to the front door to come in. The look on his face was priceless! |
