| Got there, eh Ozzie? Oprah, kONGO? Is no place safe from American TV? Careful, or you'll wind up like some of our College students... StarTraveller.... sometimes you worry me. Post on, all! Keep up the good work.

| No, I think even the most underdeveloped countries can get some form of American talk- (or freak?) show, be it Jenny Jones (the queen of makeovers), Sally JR (yikes, she gives me major creeps), Oprah (you go girl!) or even Jerry Springer (no comment). It's really a shame, since some of the TV-shows from the big country out west are pretty good. The West Wing and Homicide: Life On The Streets are my two non-comedy favorites. Then there's the sitcom...you need a powerful calculator to add up the numbers of them the US has cranked out. A large percentage plain sucks but Seinfeld, Frasier and Spin City (before Heather Locklear...creepwarning also) are a couple of good examples. My favorite on the Oprah-show is Dr. Phil. I think it's hilarious the way people (in front of millions of people mind you) sit eye-to-eye and explain why the other one makes them feel mad/sad/whatever. I wonder what their neighbours think... SNL made a hilarious satire on that, with lots of quotes that sound like they had been said by the original; "What I don't want, is for you...to put your horse-shoe...in his pillowcase". For that college-student thing, I might be lost already...not completely sure what you mean though. 3000 posts Ozzie. Wow. Have yourself a cold virtual (or real, by all means) beverage of your choice on me. [Random Talkshow quote: "Don't go there girlfrend" (Episode: Transvestite teenaged goths ask their roommates: Are you gay or bi?)] -kONGO |

| Just don't want US TV to melt your brain... Some US college students (and graduates) can make you wonder whether education here is worth anything at all. Thankfully it's not true of ALL of them! There are some good things being done on TV: you've mentioned a few of them. I'm just not passive enough to really get into TV, I guess. I'd much rather be doing something than sitting and watching. Of course I DO watch anyway.

| I like sitcoms. However, you forgot to mention a couple of my favorites (besides the ones you DID mention How on Earth could you forget FRIENDS ![]() Also, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith kept me glued to the screen back then.

| Sorry Ozzie, I totally forgot to send a BIG HUGE CONGRATS in your direction. How did you ever manage to post so much??? Scary and cool at the same time. BTW, I attended my first lecture at uni today. I'm taking a single class (Mathematical Analysis) while I'm completing my dissertation on a different education. If you're confused then say so and I'll write a more descriptive post about it Oh yeah, about the math. DAMN that **** is hard! I'm used to handling math with easy, but this class is gonna be tough - especially since I won't be able to attend most of the lectures because of the dissertation thing Well, I wanted a challenge and I guess I got one. Time to test my potential

| Ahhh, the good ol' math analysis. Is it single-variable, or multiple (i,e, f(x) or f(x,y,z) I'm on my third year studying at the university (one week into the third of 4½), 2½ years left to my masters-degree in computer science and engineering. Good fun though. I don't like "Friends" too much these days. I feel a bit "been there, done that" about it, nothing new. OK, they drink coffee and goof around, but do something else for a change!! Fresh Prince is gold! It's rerun yet again now on a swedish cable-channel, and it's a riot. Can't figure out how I missed to mention that one. *slap* I'm guessing SKI is shaking his head right about now pondering the intellectual breakdown of modern society or something in that respect. -kONGO |

| Ozzie is a very nice person from what I`ve seen from his posts. He isn`t only deserve to be a moderator but something more than that. You know, members are difficult to understand a moderator and more difficult to like them. Happy part is all moderators are nice ...ehmm,is Eddie back? I think I didn`t like him much but that was a loong time ago.Although that I respected him equally and that must not be forgiven by members.Moderators are doing a job here or wherever and they make the rules and good opretion of the forum. It`s a totaly different thing to dislike and to respect and is egoistic to feel that you are the right person.Respect yourselves and so others. Congrats not only for 3000 posts but also for the kind of work on that forum. Last edited by patentman : 09-04-2001 at 04:42 PM. |

| kONGO, My textbook says both single and multiple variables so I guess there's no easy way out of this The education I'm currently writing my dissertation for is the Danish Diploma Course in Advanced Computer Studies <phew>. When I'm finished I'll be properly accepted at uni (the law says I can't do two educations at the same time I'll receive a lot of course concession for my current education, which take 27 months, and therefore I only have to take 7 classes (three per semester for a full-time study) to graduate as a B.Sc. in Computer Science. Because I'm taking one of the math classes during this fall I should be able to complete the B.Sc. in January 2003 (normally a B.Sc. would take three years). Not bad getting almost 2 years worth of course concession for a 27 month education I'd like to go further, though, because I've discovered that research is the way to go me

| Yet again I forget to mention my favorite. The Simpsons is extremely funny, one of the best things ever made in the US, all categories. I like the way the writers sneak in all kinds of critisism of the american/world society. And yes, I also saw that Frasier-episode. Funny funny funny. Like always I must say. Kelsey Grammer is a great comedy-actor (and he gets a boatload of money for each episode I hear  ). Ph.D. huh. Wow, I've thought about that also, but what the heck am I supposed to do research about, the affect Internet forums have on students? -kONGO |

| I've taken a little look at Quantum Encryption when I worked on a project for my Computer Security class. Also got a bit into Quantum Computing. This is a very interesting area and I've considered that as a potential area to specialize in. There're a few more like AI and Computer Security (a little general, but I've got some specific areas in mind).

| Computer security will be the way I branch in my education this spring. Or "Safe Interactive Systems" as it's called. Among the most interesting aspects of computers today, security. Will always be necessary, and demands on it increases almost daily. It looks like a good future for work in that area of computing. I think I'll attend an AI-course this spring, but I'm not sure. Goddarn LISP-programming. Paranthesis-mania! -kONGO |
