Gun laws here in Australia are very strict after the was a big massacre. But not too long ago a lot of people had guns. My uncle had a hand made 12 guage double barrel shot gun made in Spain... it was a sight to behold and had more kick than a mule. There were and still are not too many hadguns though.

Gunlaws here (the Netherlands) are very strict. About the same as on American airports (but than for the whole country). But gun-incidents are also not very widespread or frequent. Not only guns but a lot of other weaponry are forbidden. I never felt the need to own a gun, perhaps only in a fit of rage which imo isn't the best moment to have one at hand.

Oooooh, want one!

Actually, the gun I really want but can't afford right now is a Smith 686 with 6-in barrel (.357 stainless). I learned to shoot on that gun (with .38 SPL rounds) but have never owned one. My wife, who is rabidly anti-gun, won't let me have one. But if business improves, it's at the top of my "expensive toy" list.

Well I have a .22 rifle. Don't think we have any gun laws in Vermont. Strange all kinds of guns, deer rifles and such, most people out in the rural areas have guns and very little crime. I am starting to think that maybe it's criminals that are the problem. Guns like my rifle are a tool, rabbits, woodchucks and other pests are the target.

I meant to do this the last time we had a gun thread.

I have a crappy digital camera. That's what I get for buying a cheap one.

Well, as our government finds it harder and harder to protect us (I will never depend on my government to protect my wife and two children), they keep getting closer and closer to taking away a persons right to defend themselves... fairly (just ask the LAPD who tried to respond to the infamous assault weapon bank robbers). Criminals will always find a way to get the upper-hand on their victims, but never in my house! California used to be a state of great beauty and people, but the politicos trying to make a name for themselves and an urban sprawl afraid to confront itself have really f'd it up. I am curious other members States and their "carry" laws.

In sales, I drive all the streets (all parts) of L.A. everyday. I bought a nice little Colt .380 to carry, but ultimately decided the laws in this state imperil my continued freedom should I decide to "carry". I still remember driving through L.A. as the day the riots broke out last time (it was my birthday) and fearing for my life. Many neighborhoods maintain civility on a razors edge. Anything anytime can screw that up and cost you your life. Some people traveling the same path, about the same time, I did that day were killed, by criminals.

Everyone should have the right to carry.

Toasties

It's a Springfield Armory Mil-Spec M1911A1. .45 ACP. I bought it brand new in 1996, I'm the only one who's ever carried/fired it. That gun is my pride and joy. I carry in a skeleton holster behind my right hip, since I'm a big guy it's pretty easy to make it disappear.

The grips are rubber Hogue wraparounds. They come with plastic stocks that I don't like the look of. One of these days I'll get some wood stocks for it and I'll probably switch back to them. I also have a tritium sight kit for it that I haven't gotten around to installing.

Wow great thread and great pictures guys. Especially the Desert Eagle. I had a DE .44 with a polished hard chrome finish, but had to sell it. I've always liked the big bores. I have a S&W special edition model 29 .44 with the 3inch L-frame barrel. Damn is it sweet. If I could find a good holster I'd carry it, but probly load it with .44 Specials.

The differences in gun laws between the 50 states and between all of the countries is so complex, someone could do a thesis on it. A lot of it comes from if you were raised in the country or in the city. In the country, everyone has them, they're sensible about them and it's no big deal cause it's just a tool. Most city folk look at them as something evil.

Virginia's concealed carry is one of the better ones cause there's no requirement to list a specific gun or caliber on the license. You just have to take an NRA or state approved safety course.

I'm a big fan of the Government model .45. What a cool piece!

My wife had never touched a gun until we started dating. I told her, "Look, I'm going to have guns in the house so you need to learn how to shoot." Took her to the range and she loves it. Her favorite is a .357Magnum.

I have a Kel-Tec P11, along with a Ruger P90 .45 ACP. and concealed carry. The P11 is one of the best small handguns made, Imho. My wife carries that one when she travels on business.

I carry a HK, .45 USP, Variant 1, Compact. Always load it with 10 in the clip, 1 in chamber, and extra clip. +p, prefrag loads are the ammo of choice for stopping that murderer, rapist or kidnapper DEAD in his tracks........

interesting site that lists a pretty good overview of each states gun laws. of course ALL these laws are subject to interpretation by the judge handling your case. AKA in rockland county, NY the judges are pretty anti-gun, although there are no laws on the books restricting concealed carry, its VERY rare for a judge to hand out an unrestricted cc license

That's one of the great things about Virginia's law - it's a "shall-issue" state. If they don't find anything to prevent you from having it, they have to issue it. They have 45 days to do it.

Fairfax County tried to interpret the laws themselves and make up their own until the NRA put a couple of lawsuits on them. FC is one of the most liberal counties in the country.
