| I really miss the old days of this site, before some of the members got driven off by overmoderation. I really wish those times could have been avoided, and people just not been so up tight about things. It won't ever be the same here, it had to come to an end, I just wish things would have happened a little differently. People overreacted, and caused a bunch of hard feelings. Some eventually let it slide, but the good old days are gone. I'm just glad I was here for a lot of it. I originally joined up because of my crappy old P4S8X mobo as P4S8XSUX. Trying to figure out the problems with that defective POS motherboard, back when this was asusboards.com. Then other brands of mobos were welcomed here, and the name changed to ABXZone. The site REALLY took off for a while there, prometheus, and bigtoe were posting a LOT then. A LOT of people came here seeking help, and new posts were going up faster than you could read. Then came a big power trip, certain moderators jumped on ANYTHING they thought they could justify, and people left. Then the mods responsible for driving people away were asked to step down, so they threatened legal action, and a new low was reached. ABX shut down temporarily for fear of LEGAL ACTION. I dunno if I can ever forget that, because of the damage it did. I really miss the way it used to be, and the time is passed for it to recover. The only hope is we can have more good times ahead with new members. This is still an EXCELLENT site, and I'm glad to see some of the old crew still here. For now we stay in touch, keep the site going, and hopefully some day something new will get it all stirred up again. There was a while there where new hardware was actually WORTH buying, and people had the $$$ to spend. Between the economy, and lack of good reasonably priced hardware that represents a REAL performance difference, and the past problems, it's kinda dead here. Here's to the good old days. |

My next board is going to be an ASUS (just coincidentally) and I have been using Gigabyte for a while now with mixed results. But yeah, they were the days.

It was hardly about rocking the boat, more like bailing out the Titanic, but feel free to believe what you wish...

| Re: I miss the old days ... Oh ya, joining ABX brought a new dimension, new meaning to "surfing". A place where I could learn more, participate, and have fun as new friendships were formed. At times it got rough.... to the point where I felt like dropping out. But "friendship" prevailed. Always wonder what became of CJ, and PCB. Have not upgraded in 4 years, so kind of behind the times. Plan to take the dive in October. (Got to get over these school expenses )![]() ![]() ![]()

Heh heh, that's why I joined, too. And I'm still running that crappy old P4S8X it in my secondary rig. Didn't have many of the problems people reported, but still FAR from a great mobo. I miss reading many of the posts from some of the "older", more active members. I do have to say, however, that this is still one of the greatest boards. The community and camaraderie here is outstanding. I dare say that there are VERY few boards out there where members treat each other with so much respect. Even when a thread gets a little heated I don't see anywhere near the level of outright flaming and disrespect here that I've seen in other places. This is why I stay, and will continue to do so (even if it is in a relatively silent fashion). Cheers budz! | |
