I miss the old days ...

Wow, that prediction thread really reminded me of the great time I've had on this forum. Before I came to the US, there wasn't a day when I did not visit ABX.

Those were good days when i was perpetually on the forum, making friends and having fun. But then I came here and something changed. I don't know what, but I never found the same amount of time to spend here at ABX.

It's really a shame, and I wish I could spend more time here, but right now I feel sooo far and disconnected from you guys it's almost like a fresh start.

I just wanna say I miss all you guys! I'll never forget the great time I've had here and all the great people I've met!

P.S. Another horrid thing that happened was that I switched to a Mac ... completely ...

life is what happened...you're in college now...interests and habits change as you get older...plus you meet different people, want to do different things and tend to not have as much time to spend in internet forums

ABX will never be what it once was not only because people left, but because people moved on with their lives...even if everyone from 5 years ago came back I bet they would not be posting as they once did...it's called getting older...people were at different points in their lives back then and they just happened to all converge at the right time and the right place...people wishing for the old ABX to return need to realize that it won't ever happen

that's why you should always enjoy the good times in the moment, as you never know how long they will last

Well said!

I mean, I know those days when hitting New Posts would show up at least 2 new threads every 4-5 minutes. And I'd crib about the time limit between posting two threads. Wow, yeah they were amazing days. And that's exactly what makes them special, now that we cannot relive them!

the marginal valuation of something scarce is very high indeed!

and that was the economist in me speaking

Re: I miss the old days ...

Hey ole bud sammy, yeah I too miss the old days and buddies here on ABX. I also concur with polonyc2. We had a great ride! ABX is where I became a poet, knight, and an ole man. I was here in my middle 50's now I'm here in my middle 60's. I now have ill health. Mostly just post here to keep in touch. Like an old Abx dog gotta keep coming back. Always nice to see old buds check in and say hey......

Re: I miss the old days ...

Polony and Skully are spot on in their assessment and I would also like to add my comment in the same spirit...Never ignore the Life that is passing before you while longing for the Life that has already passed, as there is no substitute for the here and now. That said, the memories are great!

I am laughing as I speak Sammy, because I'm remembering putting your head on Gordon Freeman's body and giving it to several members as an avatar ...your reaction was memorable!

In any event, keep on coming back...ABX is simply evolving...who knows where it may go?

Well said ... good post.

I feel very fortunate to have witnessed ABX at it's finest.
Gone are the days when I would burst out laughing reading posts, although Kongo can still post a good one now and then
I learned so much from the members and mods here and they will always have my gratitude.

I have also met a few of the boys in person in my travels and those were good memories.

I learned this hard lesson a long while ago and sometimes after that I would get a little sad when things were going really well in my life and I was having a lot of fun because I "knew" it could not last, that it would eventually change. Experience had shown me that change is inevitable.

But I only had half the picture because since then I have learned that actually the "good times" are always here, riding the moment continuously like the crest of a wave, it is only our perception of the moment that changes. I know now that like the "good times" the "bad times" also inevitably change, and while some things are lost, some things are also found.

Boy...I miss the old days too...you had to tune in to see what was happening next and what was missed out on. I hardly hear of overclocking anymore - pushing the envelope and making your hardware scream so bad it hurt ...those sure were some exciting times.

Good to see you again Sammy! You still sound like a bright young lad...study up now - no slacking.

Sierra packed those threads up, put it in his briefcase and took them on a one way trip to Siberia aka XtremeSystems

Re: I miss the old days ...

Yes he did...along with a few others as I recall.
At least I was privileged enough to experience some really fun times.
I remember as a Mod I was contacted by professional people that weren't allowed on forums, and they asked me to relay information for them so you all got the correct info. That was great...I felt like I was really doing a service being able to share and help my buds.

Re: I miss the old days ...

I owe much more to ABX .... that review of the NV 5 Silencer actually got me job on campus as an Assistant Editor! ....

But as most people have said, some good things are to be enjoyed while they last. Our eclectic group at ABX is truly amazing, and while I've seen my share of other forums, none of them even come close to as much fun we have here at ABX ...

As many have said, it I already feel nostalgic about ABX and all the fun we've had here. Heck, I even feel nostalgic about college! I guess it's just life ... and people move on.

Cheers to all the great times we've had!
