Imac G5

You guys have probably already experienced this information but I was a amazed at the G5 specs! It can hold up to (at this point) 2 3.2ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon processors,32gb of ddr2 ram (8x 4gb), and it can come with multiple 300gb 15,000 rpm hard drives (I was wondering is that the fastest spinning hard drive on the market besides an ssd?) I think these specs are amazing even though the price came out to $25,000. :

Re: Imac G5

A 15k rpm SCSI drive is the fastest drive you can get today, yes. At least in terms of rotational speed.

The G5 is a good chip, though I'm fairly sure you can build an Intel-based system for far less cash that will spank it in both integer and floating-point benchmarks.

And POWER lives on, POWER7 is in the works, and POWER6 is said to be very fast for certain workloads.

This is an iMac: Apple - iMac

I highly doubt this can hold the specs you speak of.

This is a Mac Pro: Apple - Mac Pro

It is essentially a big PC. So having crazy specs is not unusual. It's also obscenely expensive. Note that nothing in it is unique to Apple.

Seagate 300GB CHEETAH HD 15K.5-U320 68PIN (ST3300655LW): Compare Prices, View Price History and Read Reviews at NexTag

Note as well Apple hasn't made a "G5" in a long time. G5 was the last PPC processor they used.
