the ipod killer?

i think its time to get myself one of them mp3 players really, i dont want an ipod so i went to cnet to check some out. I found this: http://reviews.cnet.com/Cowon_iAudio...4.html?tag=lst

Besides mp3's, it also plays videos (and pictures). What are some of your opinions on this, and should i wait for others to come out?

iaudio

I've owned an iaudio M3 for about a year and can only speak admirably about the product and company. The product was extremely well engineered and the company supports their products well. Bang per $ I think it smoked the IPOD and this is the next generation of digital audio player.

Looks impressive. I'm thinking of getting a mp3 player and this one is near the top of my list.

Ipod has one of the best marketing machines out there. It's developed a cool factor that will keep it at the top even though there are dozens of superior machines at more affordable prices. Kid's aren't asking for MP3 players for their birthdays, they're asking for Ipods.

The only thing that can potentially hurt Ipod right now is if subscription services like Napster really catch on. A drive full of music for the cost of one CD a month is pretty seductive to some. Of course, there's nothing stopping Apple from adding a subscription service.

One of the reasons I'd never buy one. The ipod is becoming like a cell phone. It's not really cool to have one, it's expected.

well if anyone is buying an ipod to be cool, or any other mp3 player for that matter then i feel sorry for them.

but to not like the ipod or again any other mp3 player simply because everyone has one doesn't make sense to me either. i've tried other mp3 players, and the ipod is by far the easiest to use.

The "easy to use" feature is always hard to compare because it is really just a matter of personal preference and what you get used to. In my opinion the only reason the ipod is easier to use then the X5 is because the ipod doesn't do anything except play music. The additional menus might confuse the non-techies . For me, I couldn't see paying the same price for an ipod and getting 1/10 the features and getting no benefits other then a simpler interface and bigger control pad.
