| Lead free solder causes whiskers Looks like solder had lead added to stop tin from forming whiskers that cause shorts. This has been known for over 50 years. Looks like all are new toys will go south much sooner than are old toys did. http://www.motor.com/MAGAZINE/Pdf/112007_02.pdf

| Re: Lead free solder causes whiskers Yup the crimping does not apply to PC's. Motor.com is a automotive related site. Its scary that the whiskers can grow 1 mm per year as many circuit boards many not even have 1 mm between circuits.

| Re: Lead free solder causes whiskers For this reason, when I bought my 7900 GS I was specifically looking for a card that isn't RoHS compliant. Sadly, there were no such cards that I could find.
