That maybe, but think of it this way. Cold fronts from Canada will easily slip under the warm fronts over the US, carrying with it all the fall out. Therefore, by irradiating Canada with 11 nuclear weapons you would be bringing a lot of problems, right into your own back yard.

Look how much came along when Chernobyl went. Imagine that right in your own back yard.

Computer simulation aims to raise questions about huge stockpiles of nuclear warheads

A new computer program developed for nuclear weapons researchers in the U.S. probably won't give Canadians much of a sense of security in these days of global tension and uncertainty. The software simulated the destruction of Canada with as few as 11 nuclear warheads.

"If you take out Canada's major centres, what is there left in terms of medical and rescue services, government, industry and other functions?" asks Matthew McKinzie, a physicist who worked on the computer program for the Washington-based Natural Resources Defense Council.

"There is not enough to continue functioning as a country. For Canada, 11 weapons will do that."

And the reply is "Right back at ya!"

However, IIRC the border between the two countries has historical significance because it has never seen a war, right? That's quite impressive and I don't see that changing anytime soon ... no matter what people here in the forums think .

11 really sounds like a lot in my opinion. When 80% of the population is in one area, you don't need many. Just a question, why would we bother making a simulator to do that? Canada has, and will always be a graciouis neighbor. That would be like developing software to see how many it would take to nuke Puerto Rico into submission.

The simulator is a good idea. If you are going to do it, do it in the most efficient manner possible, those nukes are expensive.
If I were making the decision, I might leave Alberta intact. Very pretty there.

I would spare Vancouver for the Mtn Biking, and St Johns Newfoundland for the partying women who live there.

I vote for Alberta too. No bias there at all. Mind you, out side of Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC, there isn't much else. Keep in mind that there are 10 provinces and 3 territories.

ST,

The border as it stands right now, has not seen any war. However, there was a time during the existance of Lower and Upper Canada, in which there was plenty of fighting across the border with the 13 Colonies.

Canada is actually the only nation to have successfully invaded the US and burned down the White House.

We had our fun, and have decided to go the peaceful route. You might say that we are the Switzerland of the Western Hemisphere.

All right:

Canada is a nice place to visit in the summer (I think they hold it on August 10th) The rest of the time it is too cold!

As far as the nukes are concerned, one of the predicted aftereffects of a thermonuclear strike is nuclear winter. They already have that so no one would notice!!!

At least les Canadiens have a good sense of humor. So let's keep em there. Imagine if the Russians were to our north. We would make a joke. They would get all upset and start building all this military hardware. We would do the same in response. It would go on for years... Wait a minute! Didn't this already happen once?

How did I miss this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I've been so wrapped up in the WEATHER thread, and misssing all of this fun.Not sure how many Canadians there are on this board but I think this is some sort of call to arms. Not to worry though at last count we only had a handfull of fighter jets, and I remember hearing somewhere that we didn't have enough pilots that were qualified anyway!!!!!I think you guys are controling our armed forces through Nato anyway..............Do our American friends know that they can vacation here for almost Free..... Because with the exchange and the fact that when you go home you can fill out a form and our wonderful Gov. will refund you the sales tax that you paid on stuff you bought while you are here...... Neat eh!$1.00 american =$1.60 plus another 8% or so...... What are you all waiting for.....That adds up to damm cheap table dances!!!!!

I'm also of the belief that you guys are Holding Wayne Gretzky against his will.......Can we have him back....Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maby when one of yous come up for a vacatio you could bring him along.(just a thought)

I'd recommend the song any day...Soundgarden are one of my favorites. I especially like Kim Thayil's description of the band "We are sex, drugs and rock'n'roll without the sex and the drugs".
Too bad they don't play together still. Chris Cornell's solo album debut "Euphoria morning" is great also btw.

"Zero Chance" from the album "Down on the upside" is my current Soundgarden favorite.

Now, back to the "Annex Canada" stuff...I'm just off on a little tangent .

LOL

No, we don't want to annex Canada, we have enough space as it is. Plus we haven't had a war since 1814 or something like that, so we're fine. We were quite the superpower back in the days, what is now Finland was a part of Sweden until 1809, when we lost it to the Russians. But since we haven't done any annexing since back then, we're bound to be a bit rusty. That's why I think it's better not to do it at all .
(Although if the defence is anything like in 'Canadian Bacon', we'll do just fine ).
