Moses Was High on Drugs, Israeli Researcher Says

Moses and the Israelites were on drugs, says Benny Shanon, an Israeli professor of cognitive philosophy.

According to Shanon, a professor at Hebrew University, two naturally existing plants in the Sinai Peninsula have the same psychoactive components as ones found in the Amazon jungle and are well-known for their mind-altering capabilities. The drugs are usually combined in a drink called ayahuasca.

That's bunch of bull, it hasn't been conclusively proven that this was the case, and that joker is wrong about Mount Sinai, being on the Sinai Peninsula.

If you pay close attention, the Bible states that Mount Sinai is located in the land of Midian. The land of Midian, is known today as modern day Saudi Arabia.

The real Mount Sinai was found in 1984, in northwest Saudia Arabia, by Ron Wyatt who sadly passed away in the 1990's.

I also heard he parted the Red Sea by having all Egyptians flush their toilets at the same time.

"Shanon admits he took some of these drugs while in the Amazon in 1991. 'I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations,' he said."
Perhaps those drugs had some effects that were longer-term than he expected.

Re: Moses Was High on Drugs, Israeli Researcher Says

I remember watching some show on tv (PBS???) years ago where they talked about the burning bush. There is some sort of bush that grows in that region that produces a type of oil that coats the plant. Under the hot sun and under certain conditions, the oil well burst into flame consuming the oil coating and then suddenly stop burning - while leaving the bush itself unburned. I always thought that was neat.

Naw, people can speculate about a lot of things but the fact of the matter is that no one today was there then. So, speculate and have fun.

LOL, my god, doctors have enough trouble working out if our sports stars have taken drugs to get where they are, but they can determine what people took 2000 years ago from their religous behaviour? Give me a break!

You know, whilst I have no religous views, I always find it difficult to understand why religous people feel a need to make miracles consistent with scientific theories. Cant there just be a miracle which is a miracle?
I mean, if god uses natural processes to achieve his miracles then are they really miracles in the traditional sense? ...

OTOH, I find it difficult to understand why so many scientists seem to also have the same need to explain religous events scientifically, I mean couldnt those events just be made up stories?

You kind of end up with scientific religion or religous science... neither of which makes any sense.
