So many movies rely on effects rather than story line and/or acting these days. Whatever happened to good ole drama?

I think the best sci-fi movies are made in my brain. I had such a good time today... i was reading some Arthur C. Clarke... good times. I guess you cant count on movies these days to satisfy your sci-fi cravings.

What was the last "good sci-fi" movie you saw?

Arthur C. Clarke is a great sci-fi writer....maybe because he was a true engineer/scientist. He was an engineer on the project that put the first satellite into space (or something like that). I read that somewhere or other.
