| My first Duathalon Well I finally got into the competative spirit this year. The Rocky Mountain Regional Duathalon Championships were in my home town, so I figured I would go out and see how I faired. I knew going in there would be some serious competitors and then people like me who knew they had the fitness to finish, but wanted to see how they faired against others. The format for the even is a 5K run, 30K ride, and another 5K run. The race went as I planned. I was 160th out of 250 after the first 5k run. My time was 26:23 for the first 5k. Not that bad for me, but I was leary to run too hard with so much left to do. The bike was awesome as that is what I do. I passed over 70 people on the bike leg that were likely runners waiting to pass me on the last run. The course was a course I train on 5 days a week so I had a serious home field advantage. My time for the 30k bike was1:02 which doesn't sound that fast, but there were 20mph headwinds on the way out, and the course was hilly the whole time. In the end it was the 10th fastest bike leg for the competition. My last run hurt as I am not a runner. I did the last 5K in 30:20. On the plus side, only five of the people I passed on the bike made it past me, so I finished 97th. Total time was 2:05 with tranisitions. I had fun which was the reason for doing it, as I only run for fitness in biking. It was a lot of fun to time trial on the bike with so many rabbits in front to catch. They took some pictures along the course and so I will post them as I get them. ![]() |

I decided if i bought my Kikapu, i would try to get into one race this summer, but i have a lot of training to do, especially when the bike is new to me( an MTB for that matter!) I will ask the LSB when the last one of the summer is and try to compete.
