I don't think that's true. I think he went to get a cup of coffee and she typed it herself.

Hello,

Here are some words of wisdom from one of my favorite actors:

“Please stay in Love with Me.”

We're getting our bathroom remodeled and it's taking a far greater toll on her than I could ever have imagined.

Yesterday I stayed upstairs in case the carpenters needed anything. I braved the dust and noise willingly, the thought of a our new bathroom strengthing my resolve. She called me for myriad trips downstairs for instructions in case of any calamatous event. The she complained I was "having fun" on my computer all day.

Today I turned my computer off when the plumbers arrived. I went downstairs to stay with her. I even brought a book. As I sipped my morning tea I was told emphatically that I had to go upstairs right then and "supervise" the plumbers.

Right now all is quiet. It's just after lunch so the fireworks haven't started yet.

But I can tell the fuse is lit.
I ran across your post----almost fell out of my chair. Almost 1 year ago to the day----we discovered that our shower had been leaking where we couldn't see it-----and basically destroyed the floor under our entire bathroom.

6 months later and $10,000 dollars poorer----we had a new bathroom. But I took about 30 "sucking chest wounds" from my wife of 25 years in the process. It was as if I was the bad guy in the whole mess. I got estimates----she didn't like them----I finally signed a contract---she didn't like it. She picked the tile, the paint and the wallpaper----and hated it when it was done----and blamed me.

It was as if she had totally lost her mind. At one point----my sons would greet me at the door way and say, "Dad----mom's in a pretty good mood----PLEASE don't mention the bathroom!"

There must be a name for this disease.....

Quite deadly....

Three months! Three months subman!?

How did you ever survive?

My contractor promised it would be two weeks maximum. It kinda' reminded me of "The Money Pit" but so far they are right on schedule. The first two rough inspections are complete and one more is scheduled for Monday. They'll be starting again early Monday morning.

All has been quiet for two days and I expect it will remain so for two more.

And then, who knows?

We had close to the same scenario. And the same chronology. Our kids are spared this stress. They are both grown and on their own now.

My wife picked all the tiles and such too. And it took a few trips to the tile distributor to get it right. I sincerely hope she likes it because I have a feeling that if she doesn't I'll be to blame just as you were.

I think Wingit hit it at the beginning of the thread. Their home is being invaded. Their nesting instinct is on steroids. And we are the buffer between the invaders and our now adrenalized wives.

Sorry, I missed your post. I'll be sure to keep you posted on the reappearance of the woman I used to call my wife.

From experience over the past two days it shouldn't take very long for them to get back to "normal" (if the state they are usually in can be referred to as normal). I am beginning to recognize some of her former characteristics already. But Monday will be the test. And the rest of next week. We will be finished by next weekend if there is any mercy in the world.

I'll keep you posted if you'll do the same for me.

Good luck on your remodel. I hope it's finished on schedule and your lovely wife is completely satisfied with the results.

When ours is done I'm going for a

Matter of fact I'm going for one now. After this week I deserve one. And I'll even get one for the wife if she likes.

Coronas are in the basement fridge. Limes are in the kitchen fridge already cut into wedges.

Something very similar happened to us. A leak under the bathroom floor came out down a part of the house we never see from the outside. The diaphram in a pressure regulator under the shower had perished. By the time we did see it, the whole floor and one wall in the bathroom had to be replaced.
As we wanted to "remodel" as you guys say, insurance payed for everything other than the new suite!
