Netzero and D.C.

Well I made it to DC, got all settled in. Hopefully my class schedule won't be too hectic so I'll be able to get some sight seeing in. It's been a few years since I've been up here and I'm going sto try to see what's new around here. Could'nt get ahold of my isp so I gave netzero a try and surprisingly its pretty fast for free dialup. Must say I'm impressed. Anybody else used it?

I used to use NetZero but I now get 24/7 internet connectivity through an ISP for $9 a month with no advertising. Since, I'm using Linux and Windows, I cannot use NetZero except in Windows. Since the ISP shake-down a little while ago, I lost NetZero in my area (it was a great back-up ISP for me if I could not connect).

Welcome to DC. I love that city. Used to work on 15th and M. DC is about the only thing I miss on the East Coast. Well, OK-sometimes I miss my home (Hancock MD).

True but Georgetown is not as nearly as much fun as College Park. Paragon. I wonder if they still have $1 a drink night on Tuesdays? Guess I'm showing my age on that one.

Hey BombTek!

In 'DC just across from the old Post Office Bldg & the train station (4 blocks from Capitol Hill) is the Phoenix Park Hotel. The Irish Pub there has live Irish folk music every night, and they claim to pour more Guiness than any bar in the U.S.A. I spent a week there a while back, and I won't dispute their claim!

Definitely worth a look!

Amazing how being close to the "Circles of Political Power" makes us all want a BEER!

Thumbs down

...Just moved away from the D.C. area after 12 yrs....
There are SO many great broadband ISPs to choose from there,
I had Comcast cable, and there are some great DSL companies close by...
I was stuck with Juno (which merged with NetZero), when I moved to Central Virginia, and hated every minute of it.
They have timers instituted that will hang up on you, unless you are continuously browsing with THEIR proprietary browser, and will do so at very inopportune times.
I too have Linux, which was another reason to drop it, since its not compatible.
I finally found a local ISP, that I will use until I can get a broadband connection where I live.
Shop around and find yourself a better one.
just my 2 centavos.
Good luck.
