| NYC would have been a great location for the Olympics...too bad they could not work out all the stadium issues

| I was actually surprised when I heard that London had won...going into it Paris was the odds on favorite to land the 2012 Olympics.. but congrats to London and Tony Blair...I'm sure they will make a fine host I like the design of the proposed Olympic Stadium that will be built in London http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8476616/ (click on "slide show" half way down the page to see the artists rendering of the new stadium) Quote:

| Tampa was bidding for the 2012 as well and we lost it. We had signs up for a year or so all over about how we hoped to get the 2012 Olympics. I think we mostly wanted it for the money....the Olympics is such a huge revenue generator that the locations that get it are given a TON of money years in advance to help ensure the infrastructure for transportation and all are there. Tampa has had "infrastructure" problems for years and years and I think they were hoping this would be a quick fix. |
