P4T MB and Enermax PSU

I just bought a P4T and it is really nice. There is one wierd thing though. I have an Enermax 450 watt PSU and the auxillary power lead is backwards to the connector on the motherboard. The key is on the wrong side so it will not slip in. I probably will never need this connection since it is a 450 watt PSU. It runs perfect with the ATX and 4 pin 12v power connections. Those are the only two "required" power connections according to Intel.

Has anyone run into this yet?

P4 1.5ghz
P4T motherboard
Bios 1004
512mb PC800 Samsung RDRAM 2x256mb
Enermax 450 watt PSU P4 ready.

Thanks,

Jericho

Jericho - the aux connector isn't backwards...it werks like the old AT power connectors...
give it a bit of pressure, and it will pop on.
the three connectors are near each other tho. next to the ATX there is the only spot the aux could go, and that is where you should attach it
we built a couple here at werk, adn always hoojked all 3 of em up
hope it helps

Looking at the auxillary power connection on the motherboard, does the plastic key slide in on the left or right side of the connection? On mine, the key is on the left side of the auxillary power lead and on the motherboard the slot the key slides down into is on the right making it impossible to put in.

Thanks,

Jericho

I have the Enermax EG451P VE. I double checked the manual and the key slot on the auxillary connector on the motherboard is on the right side. My Enermax PSU's auxillary power lead key is on the left side. Obviously since you and others have installed other PSUs to this connector then it is not a motherboard problem. There is a design flaw with this Enermax model.

Who knows, maybe they just screwed up mine. That would be typical.

Jericho, please let us no which part is at fault, when you find out the answer. I just bought an Enermax 350 for the wife. I bought it for future expansion because of the PIV capability. If you find out it's the P/S, please email me a picture of what the bad connector looks like, so we'll know what to look for on all of the other's P/S units.

I have verified that it is the PSUs auxillary power lead connector that is backwards and not the motherboard. And ofcourse none of the email addresses on Enermax's website are working. Everything comes back "undeliverable".

On the front of the six pin power lead is the clip and on the back is the "key" which is just a piece of plastic that sticks out so that the lead can only be inserted one way. There is a notch on the motherboard connection that the key slides down into. That plastic key is supposed to be on the right side. Mine is on the left. I have verified this by looking at other PSUs that are keyed correctly. I suppose I could break off the key and insert it but who knows if they screwed up the wiring too.

I have been using it fine with the main atx power connector and the four pin 12v power connector. The auxillary is there for the system to gain reserve power in case there is a large load. Since it is a 431watt PSU I don't see that it will ever need extra power from that connection considering the P4 only requires 300watts.

If anyone has any experience with this model of Enermax and the P4T please post.

Thanks,

Jericho
