Mrs. TQ and I took our nephew to see the film. Loved it. The violence is nothing more that what we've already seen in "Saving Private Ryan" or "Band of Brothers". I believe it was an effective cinematic device to propel the story and portray the horrors of combat.
Plus, watching really bad people come to really bad ends never gets old. Watching good people get killed and injured serves to satisfy you when the bad ones get their blown-uppance.

We thought the film's end was a fine way to wrap up the Rambo saga. Poignant and redemptive.

I can't wait for a director's cut that will further detail the characters, especially the relationship with the female Christian missionary. And the mercs. Loved the mercs!

I might wait for it to come out on DVD. How old is Rambo now? 50...60...70?

Stallone is sixty-two. I'd guess that he was playing Rambo at the same age.
By the way, he looks great in the film.
