Ramen Noodles

Strangest thing I have ever seen......

I just witnessed my CEO (who makes upwards or $500K without bonuses) warming up some top ramen in the break room.

After eating my weight in Ramen in college I swore it off and haven't seen, or smelled it in many years. Just now, the smell of chicken flavored broth with ramen noodles brought back a flood of memories.

That is funny....but sometimes it is a "time" factor and not a "money" factor. I used to have some isntant version I kept at work for "emergency food" if I were there late or on weekend or something.

Ramen noodles are delicious...I still buy them every so often...they are not only cheap (30 cents a pack) but good as well...I also like the soup in those big cups that you just gotta pour boiling water into and leave it for 3 minutes...yum yum!!

Isn't it interesting how your sense of smell is tied in so strongly with your long-term memory? Nothing dredges up long-forgotten events like an associated smell.

I don't believe it was a time issue since she spent the better part of an hour shooting the ***** with other employees.

I used to put a slice of american cheese into the ramen to thicken the broth then I put some hot sauce (Cholula or Taptia) in. Warm up some tortillas on the "stone" and quick, easy, cheap dinner!

I think it's been long enough...I may have to venture out tonight and give it a go again. I wonder if my 4 year old son would have a palatte for "mexican ramen"? I'll just need to find someone to make homemade tortillas like my old roomate did.

Billfuddled, I was interviewing a potential employee last week and she was wearing the same perfume that my highschool girlfried used to wear. It flooded my mind with all sorts of emotions harkening back to the "first love" days.

Wink

That ceo has taste boy! He might just like ramen, I know many people as myself do. That stereotype that rich people gotta eat rich sometimes isn't true if the person is cool, just go for what tastes best! I remember I used to eat just ramen noodles crunched up like chips.. mm! You know whats also good? Talking about the bowl you boil and stuff, I like the new stuff they got on the market called kimchi. It's some chinese stuff thats pretty hot, tastes great, but lots of MSG if thats the word I think.

30 cents? Wow...they've gone up.

I remember we got them all the time when I was a kid/teen as my family was always hard for money. I also got them a lot in my early college days. Back in those days they were something like 15-17 cents a pack.

As for things to liven them up....one of the best I found was one my mom came up with. After mixing, add a few big globs of sour cream. Thickened them up and made them quite filling.

Hye Now, Let's don't come down too hard on the food my family is enjoying 3 times a day now. Since becoming unemployed 2 months ago we have a different flavor for each meal. They are delicious.

Just can't shake the craving for a nice seafood or steak dinner though. Maybe one day soon.

How many of us are now having ramen noodles tonight?

All because my overpaid CEO slummed it with us lowly minions. If she only knew.......
