| Does anyone know if there will be a "Return of the King" expo in Toronto this year? A little background - on the last week of November 2001 there was a fantastic show in Toronto (at Casa Loma) showing The Fellowship of the Ring constumes, props, sets, etc. Absolutely fantastic...I've got pics if anyone's interested. Last year at about the same time there was a much, much bigger show for The Two Towers at the Hansen Planetarium (former ROM planetarium). I didn't like it as much due to the crowds and the fact you couldn't take pictures. I hope the same thing is going to happen this year! But I haven't heard anything? Checked ticketmaster.ca, which was selling tickets to the event last year - nothing...announcements should be out now, I'd think? |

| There's going to be one at the Science Museum in London, but I haven't heard of it going to other locations. I will be attending it on my birthday - too cool. And I'd like to see your pics of the Fellowship show. PM me.

| Wow...how cool is that! There was nothing like that here in Atlanta. The only 'special' thing - if you can call it that - was the limited engagement of each film at an IMAX theatre...which, BTW, was pretty darn good. The IMAX sound system alone was worth it...almost as good as my home system. Would love to see some pix Fraoch!

| Now I took these pictures with a crappy disposable camera (I was on a business trip and packed light). But still. ![]() THE RING! Yeah, I know it's outa focus, but I was having a hard time getting a photo out of it because it was calling me... Elven armour and banners. Way cool. Didn't look like movie props to me. Scenes and props from the inn in Bree. Some of Gimli's costume on the left, and dwarven tools on the right. Dwarvish runes. ![]() Gimli's axes. Because you can never have too many axes. The Gate of Moria! One of the coolest parts in the show! It was located in a dark tunnel between Casa Loma itself and the stables. It was pitch black in there but floodlights gradually turned on and the door (painted in bright silver) came shining out of the darkness! It was so bright it looked like it was lit from the back. ![]() Continued in part deux! Last edited by Fraoch : 12-30-2004 at 05:35 PM. |

| Pictures part deux RECOGNIZE THAT HAT?? Before I discovered ABXZone, I wore grey. I dug this out of my closet. ![]() The Horn of Gondor. Boromir's sword and shield. Aragorn's cloak. Man that thing was filthy. Apparently Viggo actually camped out in the woods with it! ![]() Ringwraith crown and sword. (both Angmar's) Hard to see because it was dark, but this is the scene of destruction at the inn in Bree. This was actually pretty scary. It was in a dark alcove and once your eyes adjusted to the light you realized there was a tall Ringwraith in the scene! Saruman's study. He should really keep a lot of that stuff in the fridge. ![]() Elven telescope - I think it was in Rivendell. On to part three. Last edited by Fraoch : 12-30-2004 at 05:37 PM. |

| Pictures, part three - last Legolas' sword. You can also see the Evenstar and Elrond's crown. And that's it. Oh I can't forget who was with me during that memorable day... ![]() Umm...yeah. So now you guys see why I want to see the show! It's cooler than the movie, in a way, because it's more personal. Definitely the event pictured here was. There were a lot of people, but every once in a while you'd have a whole room to yourself. The neatest thing, by far, of the Two Towers show was the Dead Marshes. A large pool was filled with water and the actual bodies used for the movie were right under the surface. Eerie. Looking over the wall of Helm's Deep to see 10 000 orcs was cool too. | I'm speechless. Fortunately I can type. Thanks for the dose of envy! How did you find out about it? Is the show something that travels around?

| What?!?!? That'd be insane. Even with the artistic license PJ and crew have taken with elements of the story I can't see it going that far. There's too much of him still left in the story not to mention significant plot resolutions...

I got wind of the second one when a coworker cut out a newspaper clipping about it. I guess I was still talking about it a year later. The first one was really different and quite memorable. The movie wasn't out so it was only hard-core fans, and not too too many. It seemed like it was just for me. The second one was pure madness. Lineups 2 and 3 hours long, and that was for ticket holders! ![]() dinnadawg, you can't be serious! That's shocking! The part in the book where his staff is broken is awesome. Don't tell me they're going to do to the third film what they did to the second... We can hope it makes it to the extended DVD though! | |

| Nice pics. I can only imagine the movie stuff at Casa Loma. Wife and I toured the place a year ago on vacation. That would be an awesome site for that kind of show. Remember the tunnel to the stables well. Got lots of pictures of the place, but not like yours! |

| Put the Saruman scene back into the Return of the King petition is the first petition I've ever signed! I doubt that it will do much good. There are 10 527 signatures right now. |
