Road Kill candy

TRENTON, N.J. - Animal rights activists are disgusted by a new candy from Kraft Foods Inc. that's shaped like critters run over by cars — complete with tire treads.

Well, kids like gross stuff, and road kill happens, so why not?

It's not like it's encouraging kids to grab their parents car and hit something.

And pulling it from the market won't decrease the number of animals killed on the road.

Geez, road kill is a part of life. These people should focus their time and energy on measures to prevent animals from getting run over, not trivialities such as this.

I think I'm going to buy a bag, and put it my "chest of saved items". If they pull it off the shelf I'll auction it on Ebay in 10 years, and become rich!

Talking PETA is right

PETA is right. I ate this candy and suddenly had the desire to drive around my neighborhood and run over every cat, dog, squirrel, AND small child I could find.

This candy must be banned.

<start rant>
It both saddens and dissapoints me that so many people seem to turn their hearts away from the horrible carnage on the roads that is visited on the innocent creatures of the wild. In fact it can be argued quite successfully that we humans as providing the roads and cars and trucks in the first place have a clear responsiblity to protect the wildlife, which responsibility we are failing miserably. So much for being "higher" beings. To all those that believe that road kill is inevitible and unavoidable: you give up too easily and dont understand that this is a technical problem which simply requires a technical solution. Its not like the abortion debate, for instance, which has complex issues for and against, we are talking about animals wandering onto roads and being run over by cars and trucks. I'm not saying that its easily solved, the fact is that not too many people would be happy forking out another 20% in taxes just to stop road kill (which is what it would take). As for trivialising the problem to our children and teaching them (in however a trivial way) that road kill is a joke that nothing can be done about, or that the mass death and suffering of animals is not important and not our problem; well shame on you. Just keep in mind that children take on board the values of those around them and of their society in general, and learn by example and not much will ever be done to solve problems if people grow up from childhood believing they cant fix them in the first place or that they're not worth fixing in the first place.
Fancy believing that its ok to give kids candy depicting animals flattened by our own cars and trucks on our roads and laughing about it! You make me feel As far as I can see, if the logic is that its ok to kill and maim animals on the road everyday then it follows logically that its ok to treat animals anyway we choose. Thats the message that damn candy was pushing.
<end rant>

sorry but I can't agree, I hunt, fish, eat meat, and yes I have bought and eaten road kill candy,

I also love animals, I have 2 cats, a tiny dog that thinks he's a pit bull, a lizzard, and so on,

The problem I see is these liberal tree hugging yuppies that get so broken hearted over such stupid **** as candy. sorry but all this peta and tree hugging crap is stupid in my opinion,
