Re: The SATA HDD Stage Rack, sweet !

You need an enclosure supporting hot-swap for PATA (meaning it defeats the purpose of this thing, unless you actually yank power and data connections to add/remove drives which is doable but boring). Also, the PATA connection is a b*tch to add/remove compared to SATA. I mean, really.

The ground must be the first to make a connection, without a ground plane you have all sorts of nasty side effects that can (usually: will) fry the electronics. The ground connections on the SATA connectors are longer than all other, ensuring a ground plane is there before power and data gets connected when you insert the connector (it's visible if you look at the gold-plated parts on the cable).

Re: The SATA HDD Stage Rack, sweet !

I figured the +/- was just strecthed out on many different pins with SATA instead of the 4 from a molex connecter. That way there would be no single strong arc that has a way of frying electronics. was just a guess..

Traveler: How's the weather down there in FLA? Your missing the blizzard we are having up here!

Blizzard? There's a blizzard somewhere?
