Skully, my friend, your resquest is eloquent and deeply moving as are the responses to it. Thank you for reminding all of us that even though the help and information here at ABX is tremendous and the fun stuff is entertaining and amusing, ABX is much more than the sum of its parts. Because of that, we are able to survive and thrive midst the sometimes deep disagreements, the occasional loss of a valued member, and all the other things that could ruin or destroy this home of family and friends.

Been away for a bit so don't know what has happened either. But i echo the comments above. For me this is the place I turn to when I need "family". Just got news one of my closest friends died. Couldn't just go to sleep. So I come here. Good to be back.
Hope whatever has happened can be healed. We all need each other and places like this. So .. a bit more star dust!

There was one bit of good news yesterday. I'm buying a house and while talking to the bank manager mentioned in passing that the home I owned interstate was zoned commercial. He asked a few more questions: Did I buy it? No, I inherited it. had I ever lived in it? No, had already moved out by then. So he made a quick phone call to a government department in Darwin. I'm eligible for the first home buyers grant - $7000. I didn't think I was eligible since I was part owner of this house. But because I didn't actually buy it, never lived in it and it is on commercial land I'm eligible (property must be zoned residential for it to count unless it was bougt as a residence and/or lived in by purshaser after Jan 2000). It's not only the $7000, but also other benefits, like no stamp duty on the sale (offered by Territory gov't & about another $1200) and it makes me eligible for 2 other assistance programs that may pay a significant amount towards the interest on my mortgage each week - he thinks probably about $50 per week.
That's good mojo for a change!
