I thought they already had different brains. That's what makes them women.

Yes, I think that in the event of an invasion from outer space we should immediately draft all Doom, HL and Quake players into the armed services...

Rail gun----now THATS a weapon....

I once shot an old fasioned ''elephant rifle"

Darn thing nearly knocked me down and left a bruise on my shoulder for a week. Definitely a padded hunting jacket required....

and I thought a good old '03 Springfield had a kick.....

I envision the Rail Gun as similar.....

I know that the inspiration for the Quake's rail gun was the experimental weapon in "Eraser", the 1996 Schwarzenegger film.
I don't recall it looking like it had much recoil but you never know.

It ain't a rail gun unless it has the sound of that from Quake II. Now that sounded like it had plenty of power.

"For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving."

Ahem, BS.

If an object moved faster than light you would still see it after it left and you would not see it at its destination until a period after it arrived. If the objects destination is a great distance from view, it would appear the object did go back in time since it is there before you can see it. That amount of time being the time it actually arrived minus the time it takes till you can view the object again. The object did not go back in time, it is that you can not see it. Regardless of what we see, an objects departure time will never be after its arrival time if the clocks are set equal at both ends.

My last post I was crying BS to the idea that traveling faster than light somehow changes time. The quote though is right. Light-speed is a speed which is a ratio of distance over time. IMO nothing magical happens to time if a speed is greater than the speed of light. Like sound, an object traveling greater than 331m/s you will see but not hear. If it gets fast enough you will not see it either. That blur you see when Starship Enterprise hits warp 9 is when it crosses the speed of light barrier.
