| Still Using the CUSL2 Although I started a similar post a number of years ago, I would like to know how the response to my poll has changed. Here is my prior post: "Hello. If anyone remembers, this site was originally cusl2.com, even before it became cusl2c.com or asusboards.com. It was created over 2 years ago and I was a very early member. I actually did not become a member very early but I read all the posts on the board before joining. I actually decided to get a CUSL2 over 2 years ago because of this site. Well, 2 years later I am still using my CUSL2, and it is still getting the job done. Just wondering who else is still using their board?" At this point, all the "2 years ago in my prior post can be changed to "7 years ago". Also, it seems that the URL has since been changed from asusboards.com to abxzone.com. Anyhow, I posted a few hours ago and was very impressed to receive a very quick response, regarding the CUSL2. So to answer my own question, I am still using my CUSL2 when I return to my parents house, and it still running fine. I believe that my parents use it too, although it's still in my bedroom. So who else is still using their CUSL2, which is regarded by myself as a 'classic'.

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 I have a cusl2-c Black Pearl. I put a Tualatin 1.26 in it with 512mb ram. It has Win ME installed for older games and it runs 24/7 for folding. |

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 My CUSL2 is in "semi-retirement". It's still in a complete, functioning PC, so I occasionally use it to test new OS's and stuff like that. My TUSL2C is is not currently in a PC. I am in the process of putting it in one for my brother to use. It will fold for Team-CUSL2. Ford Freak, Is yours folding for the Old School Crew?

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 I have three or four of them. Fully functional, but all idle. No one is using them anymore. Had my family members move on to P4C800E Deluxe and D875PBZLK, but only two of them are still operational. All others equally are laying idle now as well and are not being used anymore. Subsequently my family members have moved on to Thinkpad Notebooks and Thinkpad Subnotebooks (we've got four of them now in-house). So, between the CUSL2-Cs and now two major replacement waves took place in the house. A lot of PCs are stored now in the basement, unused. Eventually we'll only have Notebooks and/or Subnotebooks. Away with PCs, except possibly for my son's games PC. Away with wired as well: all is wireless (300 Mbps). We gained a lot of freedom with that. |

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 I got one CUSL2 ripped apart waiting for a suitable new chassie which are easier to work with than the old Aopen HX-08 that I had it in the begining. Plan to use it as a backupcomputer while overclocking my new Q6600, in a CM stacker T01 case, which probably will result in downtime and I want to have the internets available while troubleshooting... The CM 4-in-3 harddisk racks are great but they are too noisy for longtime use and especially old harddisks which are noisy as hell. Would like to replace them with some other soulution. Would also want to test out the Gigabit controller on the Gigabyte P35-DQ6 motherboard that I got and might buy a Gigabit PCI based networkcard for the CUSL2 to get some fast transfers between the computers. I know it will probably kill the PCI bus but as I won´t be playing any game on it anyway it doesn´t matter. |

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 switch_abx, I see that you also have "_abx" appended to your username. When was this added to our usernames and how can we remove it, as it seems some members have already done? I hope this post does not change the original topic of discussion, as I have enjoyed reading everyones response. Keep the replies coming. I'm looking forward to someone who still uses the CUSL2 regularly.

That happened to some members when Sanjay bought the site and merged the user db with his other sites. I think the mods can remove the suffix. BTW, how 'bout folding with that CUSL2 for the Old School Crew? Team-CUSL2 needs YOU!!!

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 I STILL use it!!! Very nice mobo. Even if I have made her life difficult a lot! 1. Water evaporation through a peltier. 2. Wiretricked 3. Tualatin mod 4. Unsoldered bios chip and placed a chip holder so I could manage to place another`s one the bios chip there to fix it from a corrupted bios. 5. Up to 2.25V to Vcore for a long time. 6. 172fsb for a long time. 7. PS2 ports have been off cause of too many plug-in and out. Now running a microsoft wireless desktop (USB). 8. Have invent a trick to run 3.8V chipset/mem. It survived! 9. Tweaked bios. 10. I can`t remember what else, but I did made her life difficult!!! Now is running on a PIII-S 1.26Ghz @1.5Ghz, 512MB, FX5700LE, USB2.0, Firewire, Promise Ultra ATA100 Tx2 and some other cool stuff. It`s my main internet system. It has been run at 24/7 for so many time!!! Still ROCKS! I love her! PS. I now run a different system than my P4C800-E DELUXE, an Asus P5K-E WiFi/AP E2140 @2.7Ghz, Transcend DDR2 800+ Axeram @1140 5-4-4-12, two RAID0 arrays (one matrixed to raid0 & 1), AverMedia TvStudio 303, some other cool stuff. I sold P4C800-E DELUXE and I regret it.

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 Wow, I remember how excited users of this board were was when someone figured out how to modify the Tualatin processor so that it could ran on the CUSL2, in addition to the TUSL2 which was designed for it. I remember wanting one so badly. Anyhow, I hate to change topics again, but I have a few questions regarding today's equipment and also the company Asus. First, regarding today's equipment, is there any site you would recommend to catch up quickly on today's trends and such with chipsets/processors... Of course, in addition to sites like this. I am really just looking for reviews and comparison charts. The last time I was keeping up on this stuff was around 2001/2002, when it seemed that AMD had a lot of momentum and the popular Intel Chipsets were still in the 800's (i.e. a long time ago). My next question regards Asus. When I bought the CUSL2, Asus made premier motherboards. They were stable, customizable, and overclockable. I used an Asus board a few years later, as I knew that it would perform great. My question is, has Asus maintained its reputation? Is it still one of the leaders, or are their other contenders/superiors? I'm not trying to start an argument. Rather, I'm just asking if Asus still has the same reputation it once had, and if so, is there any current boards that can be compared to the CUSL2, in terms of user base and user loyalty? Thanks, and please continue to take the poll if you haven't done so.

| Re: Still Using the CUSL2 Hi DS_abx, I joined way back in the day too; I think it was called Asusboards back then, and I was using a CUSL2-C at the time. I used this board up till 2 years ago for my main system then gave it to my kids. They used it till 4 months ago when I upgraded and gave them my old board. Good memories; may use it to build a Linux router or server or give it to someone in need of a PC. |
