| Well, dang...the cancer's back... I got the results of the last two weeks worth of tests today and it's definitely back. I start chemo early next week. The good news is that - from the tests we took - it hasn't appeared in any new areas, only in the places where it was previously. I'll also be taking the same combination of drugs that were so successful for me in 2006. There are differences, though. In '06 I suffered no ill effects from the original tumor site. This time I was in severe pain for most of last week, all due to the ulcerated nature of the tumor. I've also completely lost my voice (which is bad when you produce voice-overs for a living) and have to see a specialist late next week about that. I'm actually anxious to get started with chemo because if I respond as quickly as I originally did I can, in short order, begin to eat a normal diet again. I've lost ten pounds in two weeks due to the fact that I can only eat soft foods (and even that is difficult) and in small quantities. Not being able to eat my regular diet really interferes with my workouts at the gym because being low on energy means my routine gets truncated and I don't get as much benefit. I did, though, manage to use the hotel's treadmill this morning for a brisk two miler at an 11.5% elevation grade. I need fuel. Once the chemo begins to work and the primary tumor melts back I'll be able to swallow again. It's odd...I don't lose my appetite on chemo. I get a bit nauseous on the third day of treatment, but I can still eat. I'm looking forward to that.

| Re: Well, dang...the cancer's back... I was afraid of that, TQ, from what you said in your post the other day (in a thread in which, incredibly, you retained your inimitable good humor, despite considerable physical suffering). Know that a lot of people here will be pulling for comparably quick and effective results to your 2006 experience. All the best, -- Al

| Re: Well, dang...the cancer's back... A good thing is that with all the weight I've lost I've got some nice definition in my abs. I might be sick, but I'm still pretty. Of course now that I'm going back on chemo I've got to cut my hair really short again, otherwise I just can't do a thing with it.

| Re: Well, dang...the cancer's back... Being on chemo also gives me a real good excuse to do nothing but play games most of the time. Mrs. TQ: "Sweetie, can you clean out the garage?" Me: "Oh, sorry babe. (I hold up my PICC line attached pump) Chemo." Mrs. TQ: "That's alright. Go back to playing Mass Effect." Me: "Okay! Love you."
