| Holy cow! Stock the 750 fours made 67hp, and weighed under 600 lbs. I figure my bike is probably making at least 75hp with the ignition, exhaust, aftermarket air cleaners. It weighs less because I've taken a LOT of the original CRAP off of it, or it wasn't there when I got it. The brakes are able to stop it quickly and effectively. I was keeping up with my friend on his C90 boulevard, and the rest of the bikes in the group. I still want more power, couldn't imagine an 800lb bike that only has 65 ponies! A friend of mine has his harley making about 100 ponies, but it's a full dresser with bags, a radio, and all kinds of junk on it. It's quick, but all the extra stuff makes it clunky. What the H311 is the point in a radio on a bike that has an exhaust system that sounds like cannons firing?!?! |

| Got my oil cooler hooked up, and I stuck my flywheel/rotor thingy for the alternator in the lathe to lighten it up. I removed about 2.5 lbs from the stock flywheel cutting it like they show in the clymer manual. They say to remove 3 lbs from it, but I can't see a way to do that without hurting the structual strength of it, or the charging ability. So, I settled for 2.5 lbs. The reason for doing that was to prevent the crank from breaking. The flywheel was too heavy, and would break the crank when you romp on it. The end of the crank will snap right off, ruining the motor. Just preventative modification, doesn't do much for performance. Makes the motor rev a little quicker, and run smoother @ high RPMs. Putting the oil cooler on was a PITA, I used that stainless steel covered braided hose to hook it up. That stuff SUX to try and cut, I was trying to cut it with tin snips, and I was hacking away at it for an hour! Having to snip little bits at a time because it would just slide between the blades. I dunno how it's supposed to be cut, but there HAS to be a better way. THey show a tool that looks like bolt cutters with hooked shaped blades like a cable cutter. I dunno if that actually cuts it any easier. Next time I think I'll try cutting the braid on the outside with an abrasive wheel in the dremel, and just using a knife for the rubber hose. Oh well, got it installed and no leaks. Somebody painted the oil filter housing with a spray can, the paint had a bunch of runs in it, and they must have not done a good job degreasing because the paint was flaking off. Looked like CRAP, so I took some brake clean to it, and scraped the old paint off. It's bare aluminum now, I think I'll try annodizing it black along with the oil cooler adapter if I do anything. That road star looks like a nice bike. Is it actually 1700 CCs, or is that just some number they made up to make it sound like it has a big motor?? Kinda makes me wonder because of the XV1100 if it's 1100 CCs. That drives me nuts when they just make up a big number and slap it on something to make it sound impressive. Just a model designator, like the ford 500, or the chrysler 300, or Z71, no actual meaning, just some number they picked because it sounds impressive. ![]() |

| Re: What motorcycle do you own ? Those roadstars are nice. My friend has one and i would have to say its probably the torquiest and quickest cruiser bike ive ridden with. It's no sportbike but i wouldnt mind having one. It just seems so HUGE when your on it though.

| Re: What motorcycle do you own ? After 15 years of without riding a bike and 17 years since I last owned a motorcycle, I just couldn't take it anymore! I rode motorcycles almost daily except during the cold Minnesota winters from '78 to '93. I have always missed it. I just couldn't get it out of my blood. Last Thursday I took delivery on a 2008 Triumph Bonneville Black. Retro looks with a little modern technology mixed in. A pure street motorcycle. Nothing more, nothing less. This bike brings a wider grin to my face than anything I have ever owned or rode before. ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a few hundred miles on it so far but I can already tell that I will be riding the Bonnie for many years to come.

| Re: What motorcycle do you own ? Hey! Why are you guys picking on my yellow car!? hehe... I got the '01 Saturn SC2 last year in April. It wasn't the color that sold me obviously but it had only 31,000 miles on it and is in mint condition. Every option except leather seats too. It's a good commuter, averages 33MPG and since it has a 5 speed it gets to 60MPH in 8 seconds. I am loving the Bonnie so far. You're right Ozzie, it is a sweet ride. While not all that fast by today's standards, it is plenty fast enough for my needs. Bonnies do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. Faster than 99% of the cars you find on the road. Plus it is a little known secret that black motorcycles are the fastest.
