Prisoner of Azkaban is a great movie. It is a little different from the first two in that it doesn't deal with the school very much, more right to the point of the book which is capturing serious black. They show quidich very briefly, but that is it. The kids are sure growing up fast, and I doubt they will be in the next two movies as they already don't look like 13 year old kids anymore. More like 17-19. You will either enjoy the movie for the wonderful special effects and great story telling, or sit there the whole time and say how this or that wasn't in the book, or they changed too much. Buckbeak the hippogriff is an amazing piece of special effects and worth the price alone. I am interested to hear from someone who hasn't read the books to see if it makes sense to them, because it all happened real fast.

I too saw HPATPOA today. It definetly had a different feel to it. I can see if someone read the book, they would probably be lost in this film as it jumps around quite a bit. I have read book 3 twice, and found myself confused sometimes. I just thought it should have been longer. There were some critical points they left out. I understand that they had to neuter it to save time, but they could have put in an extra 15- 20 minutes. This movie flew by literally. It had to been the quickest 2 hour movie I have ever seen.

I have mixed emotions about this film. I may have to go see it again to absorb more of it. The first time around seeing this film, I must admit I am a little dissapointed. Maybe I hyped myself up too much for it to be a success to me. That I can only speculate on. Here are some key points. That I must bring up.
  1. There was very little humor in this movie, not sure how that will affect it's core audience.
  2. IMO, the movie left out way too many plots/subplots. They could have made it longer- it would have been better.
  3. Almost all critics say this is a good movie. Caveat Emptor???
  4. Special affects were superb.
  5. The kids do look too old to only be ~13. Most of the real actors are 14/15 big difference in teen adolecence (sp?)
  6. They are already shooting part four as we speak.
  7. The acting was stepped up quite a bit over the past two movies. Harry has finally became more self confident, Ron has become quite funny, Hermione has become very polished. Michael Gambon, who plays Dumbledore did seem a bit awkward at times. I dont think he did quite as good as job as the late Richard Harris.

Left some stuff out, i may repost after I go see again.

We saw Van Helsing last night. I was a little disappointed in the story, just didn't appeal to me that much.

However, I thought the performances by Dracula and The Frankenstein Monster were very good. I was also surprised to see Faramir from LOTR in a cute role.

Ok...I just saw The Day After Tomorrow.

Stupid name for the movie....and overall a pretty stupid movie too. It wasn't quite as bad as last year's disaster movie (The Core), but I'd rank it somewhere between horrible and so/so.

Actors were pretty good, but it was so weak. The father was going to go to his son he told to stay inside at New York so he didn't freeze to death? Why? What was the point? Was he taking food? He wasn't planning to take him back....I mean that was the main meat of the storyline and there was no real reason given.

Well Harry Potter almost put me to sleep last night. No offense to HP fans but this sequel just didn't do anything for me.

I watched Identity last night. What a dumb a$$ movie! I expected better from John Cussack.

The Last Samurai.......subject matter= great, interesting historical period= yes, cinematography= decent, storyline= corny but doable, acting= Cruise should do the honorable thing and commit seppuku....I guess I'm just not a fan....

I couldn't agree more! I liked the movie, but would have loved it if it had been an actor better suited to the role.
