Don't miss this one.
Actually it is not that rare nowadays. I remember seeing a whole speil about this with Roger Ebert, I think it was, a few years ago.

He was saying how the movie industry had changed over the years. He was saying it used to be a sequel was basically a cheap continuation of the story/characters to make a few more bucks and was usually pretty horrible.

Nowadays though if the first movie did well, they put even more energy and effort into the sequels and actually attempt to outdo the first movie. So nowadays sequels often are bigger and better than their predecessors.

Anybody ever heard of A Boy And His Dog ?
A co-worker just lent me the DVD to watch....it looks odd (1975 and stars Don Johnson). The premise alreadys seems like it could be an odd classic, but the fact that the screenplay is by Harlan Ellison lends even more credence that it will be an odd but good movie.

I saw it when it fist came out. Typical Harlan Ellison (not one of my favorite authors).

Thumbs up Spiderman 2

Well I saw Spiderman 2 today and I loved it. I thought it was better then the first. I think you feel a lot more for the characters in this one and Tobey Maguire did a Hell of a job for his dual role. Looking forward to the 3rd one though and I know it is going to be a long wait.

The thing I think I liked most about this one though was the fact the spacing felt so much better. It was not just focused on Spidey, but did some good long range shots which was nice. Fight Scenes I thought were also better seemd to have more Punch to them this time around and used the Enviroment more. Just wish I could give it two thumbs up instead of one

Well I've only read one Harlan Ellison before and it was good although it rated quite high on the weirdness scale.

Ok...just watched "A Boy and His Dog" and it also gets an A for weirdness!

Yeah KT, that's odd that you mention it. I saw it for sale last week and almost bought it. I saw it when it first came out. I remember it was a bit strange, but I don't remember likeing it enough to put in my collection for full retail price. But if I see it at my local used DVD place, I'll probably pick it up. About the only things I pay retail for are the movies the kids beg for, and Criterion Collection DVD's.

Just rented the DVD Gothica today. It stars Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz and Robert Downey Jr. Awesome suspense thriller.....it was pretty dark and most of the way through you have no idea how she's gonna get out of her situation. But then it all starts to make sense.....I really liked it.

I have that on DVD too.
Great thriller movie, but then again anything with Halle Berry gets my vote.

Saw about 3/4 of They Live really late last night...or should I say very early this morning.

I couldn't take it seriously, but it was fun to watch and a neat concept.

Roddy Piper (aka "Rowdy Roddy Piper", the wrestler) was really good - better than most wrestlers at acting. I wondered what that real long fight scene was all about, now I know.

I remember seeing that long ago. Being a wrestling fan, it was one of the better movies made by wrestlers. I could never bring myself to watch any thing that Hulk Hogan was in besides Rocky III, luckily his role was very small. I guess The Rock is the best wrestler/actor. It still kinda hard for me to take him serious as an actor after hearing him talk so much bull for years in wrestling.

It was John Carpenter, and they were robot aliens. Yes, I typed that right, robot aliens.

Actually kinda interesting though. He looks through "special" glasses that enable him to see the aliens in their true form (they look like ordinary people otherwise) as well as see the subliminal messages embedded in everything.

There are signs saying "OBEY", "DO NOT QUESTION AUTHORITY", that kind of thing, that are hidden beneath regular signs. It's funny, but one of the regular signs was an advertisement for Control Data Corporation computers. Yeah, THEY'RE the wave of the future.
