| I just watched iRobot on DVD also. It was entertaining. I enjoyed it but there was no suspense to it. Kind of like I knew what would happen next. Enjoyable though.

| I took my son last night and we went and saw Robots. We both enjoyed the movie. The stroy line was ok, but Robot city looked pretty good and their mode of transportation looked fun! I did have a hard time though thinking that this was Robots and not a updated version of Rollie Pollie Ollie at times. The two are very similiar I think. The voices were pretty good for the most part. Robin Williams of course steals the show. Though Jennifer Coolidge was a great choice for Aunt Fannie. It was nice hearin Mel Brooks's voice on the big screen again. If your looking for a fun movie then this is for you, though I wouldn't pay full price, this is no Shrek 2. NOTE: Two trailers worth mentioning. Ice Age 2 is in the works and the Scrat short for this was funny. They also had attached the Star Wars III trailer. All I can say after seeing that on the big screen is I am really excited for that movie now.

Most people aren't familiar with his stand up which is probably where he shines the most! Over the weekend I saw the "El Mariachi" trilogy. I had seen "Desperado" some years back and enjoyed it, but after seeing it with the other two movies, it was the weakest of the three. El Mariachi - Original movie, entire movie done on $7000 budget and it was EXCELLENT! Desperado - Cheesy, but "fun". Once Upon A Time In Mexico - Fun story, Johnny Depp was great! | |

| Yea Count. That movie was sort of plodding. But a few times I laughed good. "It's kind of hard living in your shadow.... No really, your house is so large I don't even see the sun untill 4pm." I think thats the quote. |

| I saw Envy about 2 weeks ago and agree. Can drag a bit, but some laughs. I always enjoy Christopher Walken.

| I saw Sin City tonight. One other thing(Possible Spoiler so highlight if you want to read it): Mr. Baggins wasn't so nice in this movie!

| Watched SAW. Not nearly as bloody and gory as I heard, and it was a good psychological thriller. My wife and daughter liked it too.

| 2001: A Space Odyssey was on TV last night. It wasn't the first time I've seen it. I thought it would be a nice test of my new receiver but it was in mono. I dunno, it's quite a visual feat especially considering it was made in 1968, but I find the end just too weird. That psychadelic trip with the early computer graphics was far, far too long. Kubrick tends to stretch scenes out far longer than most other filmmakers. Usually it's warranted, this time it isn't. I guess it made acid trippers go "whoa" back in the day. I also found the titles rather presumptuous. The first one is "THE DAWN OF MAN". The last one is "JUPITER AND BEYOND THE INFINITE". Umm, yeah. A little bit of filmmaker ego there? He's certainly entitled though. At least the movie commentator at the end solved a big mystery for me. She said "The ending made me feel stupid, I just didn't get it." (Me too!) She added "But if it makes you feel any better Arthur C. Clarke said that the movie was supposed to raise more questions than it answered and you weren't supposed to 'get it'". Mysteries in movies are sometimes interesting but in 2001 I find the unexplained events just very frustrating. It's important to note that the book was written in 1948! Amazing! |
