| The Mist based on a short story by Stephen King...after an electrical storm, a small town is covered by a thick Mist...inside the Mist are unknown creatures killing everybody in its wake most of Stephen King's books made into movies turn out to be duds but The Mist really is one of his best adaptations...the movie really works and really develops the characters and the sense of fear and horror...the way the people at first are battling the creatures and they next start to turn on each other is well done and very believable...there is a really neat ending which I didn't think would happen and is quite shocking...not something you see done in most family friendly Hollywood movies...the movie is slow at times but overall is a very good movie seems like the only Stephen King movies which are any good are the ones directed by Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile and now The Mist)

ZBS Foundation I have what appears to be the same recording on an audio cassette from the 1980's. Although I haven't listened to it in many years, I remember it as being really primo demo material for headphone listening on a quality stereo system. Assuming the cd they are currently offering is the same recording that I have on the cassette (which I think is the case), it was recorded binaurally, meaning with a microphone mounted in each ear of a specially designed dummy human head. The result is that listening to the recording with good headphones results in spectacularly realistic sound, including a considerable sense of three-dimensionality. (That recording technique is not intended for use with speakers, though, where each of your ears can hear the sound from both speakers; binaural recording is designed for headphone listening where each ear hears only one channel). Also, as you'll see in their listing the recording apparently stayed with Stephen King's original ending, while the movie did not. Regards, -- Al

as far as the original ending vs the movie ending ***major spoilers below...if you havn't read the book or seen the movie do not proceed past this point*** I read about the original ending after I saw the movie...in my opinion the movie ending works much better...in the book the survivors from the supermarket escape out into the mist and the story ends leaving their fates open ended...the movie version ends with the main character killing off the remaining survivors (along with his young son) rather then face death at the hands of the creatures from the mist...but shortly after he kills them the mist starts to fade and we see the military moving in and destroying whats left of the creatures leaving the main character racked with guilt that to me is a more emotionally satisfying ending

| Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix really good movie...might be my favorite movie of them all so far...Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban were good but Phoenix seemed like a step above them...I went into the movie wondering how the longest book could end up being the shortest of all the Potter movies...a lot must have been cut out...a lot was changed or cut out but the movie still worked and flowed beautifully the casting for these movies is always spot on perfect...whoever the casting director is needs to get a raise...the new additions of Luna Lovegood, Bellatrix Lestrange, Dolores Umbridge etc were perfectly cast...the wizard throw down between Voldemort and Dumbledore was amazing (made me go back and watch the battle between Gandalf and Saruman in the Fellowship of the Ring and think how much better that could have been...2 wizards fighting each other using magic should be something amzing to watch and Order of the Phoenix got it right for the most part) amazing how many directors all the Harry Potter movies have had and yet each movie (and book as well) keeps getting better and better (and more darker as well)...overall excellent movie!

| Re: What movie did you just see? Polo... If you enjoyed the movies, I highly recommend reading the books if you havent already. I was disappointed in the latest movie. I know they had to cut a lot of stuff out, but it just missed on so many key points. I just wonder how in the world will they be able to go into the intricate details of book 7 and have any type of natural flow to the movie.

| it has already been announced that they will be splitting the last book into 2 movies (released 6 months apart)...this should help with getting most of the main ideas/themes into the film

"In concluding the film franchise, we recognized that 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' is packed with vital plot points that complete the story arcs of all of its beloved characters. That said, we feel that the best way to do the book, and its many fans, justice is to expand the screen adaptation of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and release the film in two parts" It's Official: Deathly Hallows Will be Two Films! - ComingSoon.net

| STALKER A film by Andrei Tarkovsky I watched with the original Russian mono soundtrack with english subtitles. Many do not like the modern 5.1 re-mix soundtrack because it adds things that were not originally there such as music when they travel into the Zone. ![]() |

| Re: What movie did you just see? I saw Wanted tonight. From the previews I wasn't too sure, but I must admit I really like the movie. I was pleasantly surprised. I will probably go see Wall E tomorrow. I love summer time! This weekend, Hancock for sure.
