Our TV (just got through playing Sister Act on the VCR) is right next to my #2 computer. My wife watches the TV and I sort of watch while I am reading AsusBoards. (Perhaps that explains why some of my comments are a little . . . different.

Oh no - totally disagree! Jackson has been excellent on detail given how little time he has (approx. 3 hrs) to present each book ... Another few examples are when Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn are surrounded by the riders of Rohan, and when Gimli is threatened by Eomer Legolas draws an arrow to his bow and aims straight at Eomer's head before anyone else has time to react (!!); the scene where Legolas mounts the steed ridden by Gimli as they ride towards the enemy warg riders; and one of my favourites, in 'FOTR' when Legolas shoots 3 Uruk-Hai in super-quick succession, and, (proving my point) Jackson extends this scene in the 'Extended-FOTR' with Legolas shooting 5 Uruk-Hai! It's all about showing the 'elvish-skill'! Great stuff! I've cheered each time I've seen TTT and Legolas mounts the shield - he's an Elf - and he's fast and skilful! Quality filming and detail by Jackson!

And that's only one of the things I like on the films so far!!!

I know EXACTLY what you're saying, and I agree....except for the shield slide...I can't help thinking he threw that in there for the "hip" folks. All your other examples are spot on

PJ, if that's not the case, I apologize, you've done a brilliant job with these movies...

I have to admit this was my thought exactly when I saw this scene. I didn't mind it, just didn't seem to fit at the time.

Saw LOTR:TT for the second time last night, only this time it was in the IMAX theater.

P.S. I liked the shield sliding too. As 5150 said, it was another example of showing how the Elve's had such heightened abilities compared to men. I'd have to check to make sure, but I think that was in the book too.

History channel last night, about big corp deals and blunders. And of course who falls into that catagory. Q Dos i didn't know bill made that deal with ibm and didn't have anything signed with the guy that invented Q Dos, and how he got the guy to sign over the os to microsoft. I gotta admit he is a notorius buisiness man and did enhance the os even further but that poor guy only got 50 grand with no royalties. He took a course in bizz managment after that deal!

I saw "American History X" on TV yesterday. WOW! I might have to go and buy the DVD on that one. That was a powerful movie.

Saw TTT the second time yesterday. I sorta like the shield slide thing. Of course the whole movie is VERY different from the books (which I have read probably 4 or 5 times so far), but still a good movie.

If you listen closely at the shield slide, there is a short clip of the Back to the Future theme song. Kinda funny, M. J. Fox is great in those movies, and lots of skate/hover boards.
